To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Orlando’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, we thought we should do just that — CELEBRATE! This year our fundraising walk will begin as it has in past years, starting at Lake Eola and meandering the streets of downtown Orlando. But instead of ending the walk at Lake Eola, the finish line this year will be at Church Street Station, and that’s when the aſter party begins! As you cross the finish line, plan to stay for the Church Street block party, which will feature live music and celebrate the day’s accomplishments. Better yet, 15 amazing Church Street restaurants have agreed to donate 10% of their sales to Making Strides! That means that just staying for lunch supports the cause! Ya gotta eat, right? Finding a cure for breast cancer is our number one mission, and it is a serious undertaking. But we also celebrate our survivors and recognize their courage and fighting spirit. Help us reach our $1 million goal by spreading the word to everyone you know. Plan to stay and join the party, and let’s make Orlando’s Making Strides 20th anniversary one to remember. Walk… Then Party! To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Orlando’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, we thought we should do just that — CELEBRATE!

This year our fundraising walk will begin as it has in past years, starting at Lake Eola and meandering the streets of downtown Orlando. But instead of ending the walk at Lake Eola, the finish line this year will be at Church Street Station, and that’s when the after party begins!

In June our pacesetters enjoyed a VIP reception at the Alfond Inn with great food and entertainment. Pacesetters are individual team members who raise $2500 or more and teams who collectively raise $25,000 or more.

VIP Reception Honored Our Pacesetters

Pacesetter Profile: Bunco BuddiesOur mission and passion remains the same, to help our local community in the fight against breast cancer by fundraising and raising awareness of the programs the ACS provides to cancer victims. We now have 5 Survivors on our team so we know firsthand the work we are doing is hitting home, helping my teammates and many others. The fight against breast cancer has come a very long way since my mother was diagnosed almost 30 years ago, when it truly was a death sentence, to today when a breast cancer diagnoses offers many options for survival, and more and more women ARE surviving. Thank you ACS and MSABC for truly changing the way we think of breast cancer and for creating more birthdays!

— Carol Fadeley, Bunco Buddies

Pacesetter Profile: Providence Booby BrigadeAt the Pacesetter reception in June we interviewed some of the members from one of our pacesetter teams, the Booby Brigade

Margaret Hines and Michele Wagoner: On behalf of Margaret and myself, The main reason we are so passionate is because we have all had friends, family and teammates affected by Breast Cancer. Some won their battle, some did not. We are here to make a difference so in the future that battle won’t exist. Being a pacesetter, as an individual and a team, is a motivator for us. It is the goal to make the biggest difference we can, and achieving it is kind of the pat on the back that says “yes, we did everything we could to make a difference.” We chose MSABC because of the amazing work they do and the

high percentage of each dollar that actually goes towards research and patients. We love being part of this amazing group.Louise: The PBB (Providence Booby Brigade) to me means working with a fabulous group of women towards a wonderful cause. It is both the cause and the women working towards it that keeps me going. Mary Beth: We aren’t just raising money for breast cancer research. We are sisters in life, bonding, friendships, support, love, inspiration to each other, dedicated to our cause! Each given an opportunity to highlight her (or his) talents and strengths toward our common goal!
