Thank you to all the parents, staff members and students who pitched in to ensure that the stalls were manned throughout the evening, that entertainment was provided, and that the numerous other tasks were completed. Thank you also to the people mums and dads, students and staff members - who gathered on the Saturday to ensure that the Bath Street campus was cleaned up and ready for the children last Monday morning. It was truly a marvellous community gathering for the OLSH family. The final financial details of the Fete will be circulated in the near future. Thanks again to everyone involved in this memorable College get-together. Our East Timor Immersion group arrived safely home last Friday evening and we look forward to hearing of their adventures. Thanks again to Mr Greg Mills and Mrs Vicky Howie for coordinating the trip and to the many families who assisted with fundraising and support. Reflection

Thank you to the parents and family members who joined the children for Mass on the Monday evening and for a BBQ on the Tuesday.

The College Parents and Friends Association will hold its final meeting for the term tonight at the Bath Street campus staff room (7.30pm). This is the last meeting for the term and there should be some initial details concerning the results of the Fete.

The Third Term will conclude tomorrow, Friday, 23rd September, and I wish to thank you for your support of the College over this past ten weeks. Your assistance in so many and varied ways is greatly appreciated.

Despite the difficulties with sickness in a lot of families, coupled with the pressure of so many different events on our calendar

the East Timor Immersion, the College Concert, the Alice on the Line programme, the many information nights, and several other local excursions

we have managed to accomplish many good things with and for the students.

The College campus offices will be opened on Monday, 10th October, as staff members participate in a day of preparation for the start of Term Four. Classes resume for all students on Tuesday, 11th October. The Central Administration Office will be open throughout the holiday break. Enrolments for 2012 are being processed and applications can be obtained from this office, based on the Sadadeen campus.

Best wishes to you and your family for the term holidays.

Yours sincerely

Br Paul Gilchrist Principal

ON THE OTHER SIDE!

Our life is a brilliant mix of Marvellous and frustrating paradoxes.

For on, the other side of anger lies peace. On the other side of chaos forms order.

On the other side of a storm find the rainbow. On the other side of sand grows silver pearl.

The other side of death turns into life. On the other side of despair gives way hope.

Hold on for on the other side of doubt lies certainty. On the other side of practice comes skill.

Through lonely nights of fear, lies dawn of faith. Beyond debt lies prosperity.

Across deep swirling torrent find dry safe shore. Beyond the fiery sunset lies the glowing dawn. Beyond stunted self, lies living self sacrifice ...

WALK TALL ... ON THE OTHER SIDE!

The Concert was very entertaining, the Sacramental programme is well under way, we have had visiting performers, the Fete was a great success, and in amongst all of these things we have been teaching and learning. I hope that you and your children have enjoyed participating in these activities.

COLLEGE FETE Many, many thanks to all of you who worked, supported and attended our College Fete last Friday evening. ART ROOM RENOVATIONS / AIR-CONDITIONING IN THE HALL With fingers crossed, we hope to have the art room renovations completed during the two week holiday break. This entails the knocking down of a wall, the establishment of a small cooking area, new flooring and new paint. We are looking forward to a bright, clean, appealing new area to work in next term. As part of this project, Miss Helen and Miss Gloria have relocated to the Little Children s Learning Place. We have been able to accommodate them there and they will work with Miss Marni and Miss Margy, and run our indigenous programme from the Centre. You are most welcome to visit both the art room and the Little Children s Learning Place to have a look at the facilities.

As part of this building project, we will also get some new air-conditioning for the Hall. For those of you who have been in there with 300 children and 35 degrees, you will understand how excited we are about this as we get near to the summer months!

Enjoy the holidays with your children and see you next term!

INTER-SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME: FRIDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER Last Friday afternoon a number of students from Centralian College came over to the Marian Centre to play a series of Basketball games against some of the OLSH students. It was the girls who took to the court first playing 2 x 15 minute halves. As the game got underway it was fantastic to see a crowd gathering on the new seating structure in Marian Centre with a num-ber of classes coming down to watch. Strong shooting from Centralian proved to be a bit too much for our girls that were a bit more netball inclined. Hopefully with a bit of training we ll be able to fine tune this so that we can start to prepare to enter a team for the 2012 Marist Basketball Carnival.

For the boys, two teams took to the courts as a steady crowd continued to flow into the Marian Centre. Both games were very competitive and those watching were certainly entertained. Both boys teams managed to get a win on the board as they maintained their intensity with plenty of fresh legs rotating through off the sidelines. Many thanks to Ben Ellis and Aaron Crowe, who did a great job in umpiring the games. All in all it was a great way to finish off the week and will hopefully be done again next term.
