Field trips

Koyasan

Koyasan was our first field trip as a group this year As a result everyone was still just beginning to come together Of course by this point we had all already had a few adventures together but it was at Koyasan that we really got to be a family From the walk around the cemetery to hlrning the wheel around the ancient archive structure the trip to Koyasan was a great ice breaking exshyperience for us as a b1fouP For some it was their first experience with Japanese styLe bathing for others it was an advenhlre into the realm of meditation and for still others it was their first time getting a massage from me) Everyone came away from Koyasan with new friends and experishyences that wiU be remembered forever

Mie prefecture

The second field trip of the program took us to see the sights of Mie prefecture As last time we met nice and early at Settsumotoyama station and were this time accompaniedsupervised by Flowers Sensei along with Aki and Miki-san

The first stop was Moku-Moku Farm where after a brief photo session with the residents we ate lunch We then moved on to the Iga-ryu Ninja Museum where a lucky few of us we able to witness ninjas in action Afterwards perhaps to calm us down after all of the excitement of the ninja museum we were taken to the Iga-Kumihimo Center to make whatever our hearts desired as long as our hearts desired eishyther a bracelet or key chain

Hiroshima r-__ ~__The Hiroshima trip was oLir final foray as a YI] group but was bittersweet due to abshy

f1trit~ sence of several impoltant friends Despite the bereavement we felt the first night was a night to remember due to the amount of tea we consumed After that first hurdle we

-I~middotjenjoyed various Japanese keshiki Many of us agree that Itsukushima Shrine was one of the most impressive shrines we saw this year because of its mystifying ambiance

___ilIMlU~=_JIA Miyajima had breathtaking views looking out over the mountain and sea Some of us were so eager to see the magnificent sight that they ran to the top Hiroshima prov1ided us with activities from creating distinguished clay molds to hanging off trees in the plateau we gaij in smashed our way through Batmans cave However the best part of the trip was that even under the difficult circumstances we were able to forget the disasters and spend time with friends Hopefully someday we will all be together again

Karhim and Alana

The second day of the trip saw us heading straight for an obligatory part of any Konan trip the ropeway This time it was the Gozaisho Ropeway which provided spectacular views for miles around After the descent another lengthy bus journey and group photo we arshyrived at lse-Jingu Shrine where we were given time to explore the shrine and the surroundshying area by ourselves

th trip we visited Meota-Iwa which put basically was the two rocks joined by an cxtremely large ~~ul-L--- basically theyre two rocks joined together by a Shimenawa or a heavy rope of rice straw that incishy

Iy weigh over a ton After an all too brief stop there we set off home to Konan which drew an end to what ~ a Tree was a highly enjoyable field trip
