2 Ifá says there is a particular place where this person will go as a group with some other people. It is necessary for him to offer this sacrifice so that he would be the one that outshines all the others when they finally go for the trip. Ifá also warns that whatever this person is looking for, he should always be calm, controlled and patient but diligent so that he would always prevail and overcome whatever obstacles that come his way. People will say “Owo se”; money is discovered. However, despite being uncovered, it is only those that are very strong and or have enough slaves that usually take the largesse. When all the other Odù heard about the news of the Owo se in Benin, they all went into their arsenal to find strong slaves. Ogbe instead went to his Babaláwo to ask what can be done to make him the winner of the day. Babaláwo told him to offer sacrifice; he was also given a ladder which he was told that the ancestors would instruct him on how to climb the elevations over which the money is uncovered. Ogbe offered the sacrifice. When they got to Benin, the slimy part of money which always form the base, prevented most from getting their hands to the real money. It was only Ogbe who was able to climb to the top where the slimy part was not found. He was therefore able to take over the control of the money thereby becoming rich. People chorused, ‘Ogbe se owo lori’ Ogbe was able to uncover money from the top. This is one of the poems leading credence to the name given to this Odù Ogbe se Ogbe was dancing and rejoicing. 3 Ifá says there are some people that are enemies to this person. He is advised to offer sacrifice so that all the evil sent to him would rather turn to good fortunes. Ibaje dewa Babaláwo Agbe lo sefa fun Agbe Ibaje dewa Babaláwo Aluko lo sefa fun Aluko Ibaje dewa Babaláwo Odidere difa fun Odidere mofe Awon meteeta ni n se wolewode Oosa igba owujin Malevolence has turned to beauty Babaláwo of Agbe cast Ifá for Agbe Malevolence has turned to beauty Babaláwo of Aluko cast Ifá for Aluko Malevolence has turned to beauty Babaláwo of Odidere cast Ifá for Odidere mofe The three of them were close allies of Òrìsà Owujin Agbe, Aluko and Odidere were close friends of Òrìsà. But Òrìsà took a personal interest in Odidere above the other two. This brought jealousy and anger to the extent that the two decided to create a discord between Odidere and Òrìsà. Agbe and Aluko colluded with humans who also had grouse with Odidere. In the beginning, Odidere used to be gray and the stash of red feathers used to be white. Humans with these two enemies poured oil on this white feather and turned it red. However, Odidere also had had a premonition of these enemies and had consulted with Ifá. Ifá asked him to offer sacrifice which he had done. Instead of the oil staining the white feathers, Èsù made it beautiful for Odidere. When Òrìsà Owujin returned home later in the day and saw the red feathers, he commanded that they be stuck to the tail of Odidere because it looked so beautiful to him. The stain, which the enemies thought would bring ill luck to Odidere has rather brought him luck. Ifá says this person should be resolute in offering sacrifices to Èsù and Ifá. A stem of banana cut in the same height of the person. Plenty of white cloths. It would be shred enough

to tie this banana stem. The client would clim the ram till it falls about 3 times. This ram would be killed

and the head of the ram placed at the top of the banana stem representing the head of the client. All

these would be tied together after pouring the Ìyèròsùn of this Ifá. More Ìyèròsùn would still be poured

after tying before finally burying it

As the parrots legs touches the ground They could not fly off again The cripple started picking and packing them He packed them into the basket cage The cage was very full The maize farm however was along the pathway By the time Òòsà returned from home…............30 All his maize stands had been pruned In amazement he started howling angrily from afar ‘This useless slave that I bought has destroyed my farm’ As soon as he entered the house He saw the parrots inside the basket cage He smiled inwardly ‘Why then do you need to cut down the stands’, Òòsà asked ‘When the parrots were set to eat them’ the cripple said ‘I used your cutlass to scoop sand off the base and pruned them’ ‘I then was able to pack the parrots into this cage’ Òòsà thanked his slave while examining the parrots ‘Can you see these red feathers at their tails’........42 ‘If I sell them’ ‘It is good money’, Òòsà said Òòsà did nothing else He was dancing and rejoicing He was praising his Babaláwo His Babaláwo was praising Ifá He said it was exactly as his Babaláwo predicted

Each of the time when he calls on Awo, Babalawos had always told him the words of Ifá and Ifá had always been true. One day, he thought within himself ‘All the true predictions of these Babaláwo must have been because they have an inkling of what I was thinking before they cast their Ifá’. He decided within himself to test the words of the Babaláwo. He asked someone to tie him and asked that a ballot be used to touch his head and be given to the Babaláwo to cast Ifá.
