POTTED HISTORYCreated by Eleven Design in 2010, OFP set out to change perceptions of thecity by promoting Sheffield’s cultural offer and highlighting its credentials as adestination for regional, national and international cultural tourists.

Our aims:• attract and retain visitors • strengthen the visitor offer by promoting ‘joined-up’ Sheffield experiences• promote independent businesses• grow the visitor economy • showcase Sheffield’s creative community• build sustainable partnerships between OFP and culture / tourismorganisations.

NOW• we’ve sold over 9,000 OFP Sheffield guidebooks • we’ve created 6 city tours, a Sheffield A-Z, and a Sheffield colouring book• we curate the online culture guide: www.ourfaveplaces.co.uk• 25,000 articles are read on the OFP site every month• 52% of users are outside South Yorkshire, and 9% are outside UK

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORWe’re looking for around 8 board members who can:

• identify and help to reach new audiences for OFP

• act as advocates for OFP, promoting its activities and helping to raise itsprofile both within the city and, more crucially, outside of the city

• make connections and suggest collaborations with contacts and opinionformers in the cultural, tourism, business and media sectors

• advise on strategic direction and help define goals and targets to ensure OFPreaches the next level

• consider new markets for OFP products and other potential income streams.

We’re setting up an Advisory Board. We’re a small teamand we need help to ensure OFP reaches the next level.

We’re looking for people who can champion OFP, suggestconnections and collaborations, and support us in spreadingthe word about cultural life in Sheffield.

OFP BOARD MEMBERSThe people we’re looking for should:

• share our enthusiasm for Sheffield and be a champion for OFP

• recognise culture as a driver for tourism and appreciate the benefits it canbring to a place

• be engaged in relevant networks and have the ability to influence thosenetworks in order to build partnerships that support OFP

• have good communication skills and feel comfortable contributing atmeetings.

WHAT’S INVOLVEDFor the first 3 months we would look to meet once a month to establish goalsand make plans. The Board would then meet quarterly.

We are looking for people who can commit to the OFP Board for at least 2 years.Membership will then be reviewed on a yearly basis.

Although this is an unpaid role it’s a fantastic opportunity to influence and havean impact on a well-regarded and growing cultural tourism brand. We workalongside Sheffield Culture Consortium and Arts Council England in promotingthe city, and OFP has been recognised for the benefits it brings to the widereconomy through promotion of the arts. We’re ambitious for the future of OFP,and we’re looking for people to play a meaningful part in its development. Also,coffee and cake is on us!
