Enterprise is an extended family of more than 65,000; a world-class company with homegrown roots. Through tremendous leadership and the entrepreneurial spirit of our employees, we've built the largest rental car company in North America — customer by customer, car by car from the ground up. But our goal has never been to be the biggest; we simply work hard to be the best. Yes, we pick people up. And we do it in more ways than one. The idea of driving vehicles to our customers was developed by one of our managers in Florida, and the service quickly spread across the country. It‘s just one example of our commitment to innovation, to customer service and to listening to our people. If you bring your drive, dedication and determination to Enterprise, maybe we can pick you up. As a multibillion-dollar industry leader, we can offer you more than a chance to succeed. This is where you can thrive. Our environment‘s energetic, our people are motivated and our career paths can take you where you want to GO. No matter where you join Enterprise, get ready for something big. The biggest ideas are often the simplest. Our founder, Jack Taylor, had an idea to focus the resources of Enterprise, on the satisfaction of our customers and the success of our employ- ees. And, in his words, ―The rest will take care of itself.‖ For more than 50 years, his innovative commitment has held true, and we continue to be recognized for our world-class customer service and the way we advance our professionals. Management Training Program This is where thousands of successful careers are launched –including our current CEO, Andy Taylor. Nearly all of our employees start in this program. You will learn our business from the inside out – taking care of customers, developing marketing plans and working with an energetic team of professionals. You‘ll see just how much influence you can have on our future and on your own. As you progress through the program, you‘ll see many more career options open to you. Internships Want to start way out in front? Try our paid Management Internship Program. As a current college student, you‘ll learn how to run a million dollar business by working with a team that‘s actually running one. You‘ll also gain truly marketable skills that will prepare you for a successful career after graduation. Current Professionals We offer opportunities throughout our organization for skilled, dedicated professionals. From accounting and information technology, to roles within our Contact Centers, our career opportunities can put you in a position to succeed. Applying OnlineEmail Correspondence Etiquette

If this is how you generally apply to a job posting then you can

of you may be thinking ―Well I attached my reacutesumeacute and my

see attached documentslsquo Did you ever think of writing a

brief message that starts with ―hello Would you want to

open an attachment of someonelsquos reacutesumeacute and cover letter

with no official message I DONlsquoT THINK SO

First impression is everything This means the very first

correspondence is critical it can make or break your chance to

get that job offer There are a few different ways you can apply

online Generally you will identify a job and within the job de-

scription there will be a contact name and email (ie Please

send a l l resumes and cover le t te rs to

shannonseaverumbedu) If this is the case then you want

to first create a new email type in the contactlsquos name and in

the subject line type in the exact title of the job youlsquore applying

for You want to make this easy for the reader and if you donlsquot

clarify your intentions and specify the job youlsquore applying for in

the subject line they may decide to delete the email You also

donlsquot want to assume the recipient is the primary reader The

contact person could just be the person designated to collect

all the reacutesumeacutes and cover letters so be as clear as possible

Here is an example of the right way to apply on line in this

case

This is perfect but this is not a cover letter and if you think it

is then I suggest you make a visit to the Office of Career

Students Connect with Liberal Arts

Alumni at the Career Symposium

On October 18 2011 UMass Boston

alumni with degrees in the liberal arts

will return to campus to share with

students how they shaped their

career paths and ended up in their

current roles The Career Symposi-

um presented by the Office of Career

Services and Internships the Alumni

Office and the College of Liberal Arts

was designed as a way to highlight to

current students the variety of opportunities that are available

with a liberal arts degree

Alumni who are participating in this event stem from an

assortment of career fields including public relations legal

government finance and nonprofit management The

Symposium is organized into two 30-minute round table

discussions and each alumnus will serve as a discussion

leader as they speak with students who are interested in

learning more about their career Students who attend will

have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about

potential careers and hear strategies for finding their ideal

job All students are invited to stay after the round table

discussions and continue their conversations with alumni

during a networking event

The Career Symposium is a valuable opportunity for students

to not only hear how UMass Boston alumni with liberal arts

degrees reached where they are in the workforce but this is

also a great opportunity for students to network and learn

what steps they can take to jumpstart their future careers

One alumnus who will share his experience with students is

David Staples who studied Political Science and minored in

History David is currently serving as a Public Affairs

Specialist in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs with the

United States Department of State Another alumnus who will

speak with students is Lunie Jean-Philippe who studied

Economics and is now a Financial Information Manager at

State Street Global Services In addition Haley Goff who

studied English and is currently working as a Marketing amp

Public Relations Officer at Dellaria will be in attendance

As mentioned previously the Career Symposium is on

Tuesday October 18 2011 from 530pm to 730pm in the
