CHANGES AND NEWS IN 2013

Summary of 2013

Egyptian tourism adversely affected in 2013.Political unrest following January 2011 affected tourist areas.Business stopped this year between the dates 18th of August and first of October for 43 days.There are still curfews in place in some cities.Hurghada, Sharm and Marsa Alam are safe cities: business has resumed.I have lived and worked in the Antalya region for 25 years.With one year’s experience working in Egypt, let me compare briefly the two countries.Egypt’s tourist spots are the most serious competitors to Turkey’s.If you look at the weather forecast, Hurghada is warmer then Antalya in any season, especially in the summer.But the fact is, with the low humidity and lack of rain, guests feel (from a climate point of view) much better in Egypt then in Antalya.

Summary of 2013

The Red Sea is a part of the Indian Ocean. Its underwater world, rich with marine life is superior to that of the Mediterranean.I believe, after a few peaceful years in Egypt, we may easily reach the pax numbers of Antalya.Therefore, I strongly recommend to our operators, depending on the availability of flights, to concentrate on Egypt more in the summer time.We serve our strong tour operator partners from Russia, Ukraine and Poland in Egypt.Normally we have no occupation problems.It's time to manage our own hotels here.Starting with one hotel in Sharm: implement our concept there and enlarge accordingly.I see it as an opportunity for us.I hope for all of us, to have a productive season.
