Tim Hortons Smile Cookie CampaignRaises over $35,000 for Nutrition for LearningCommunity support has never tasted so good!

Cambridge, Ontario – Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign was a sweet success with over $35,000 being raised for Nutrition for Learning. Over 35,000 of the special chocolate chunk cookies were sold between September 21-27 at Tim Hortons locations across the Cambridge area. A special cheque will be presented to Nutrition for Learning this October 20, 2009 at 12:30 at Tim Hortons located at 350 Hespeler Road, Cambridge, Ontario.

“I would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who helped to make this year’s campaign such an overwhelming success,” said Dwayne & Cheryl McGlinchey, Tim Hortons Store Owners. “Raising awareness for the Nutrition for Learning through the Smile Cookie campaign opens the door to more community involvement and ensures that the funds raised in our community stays in our community. I think that’s something we can all smile about!”

Each “Smile Cookie” sold for $1 (tax excluded) with the proceeds going towards Nutrition for Learning

The “Smile Cookie” program originally began in Hamilton, Ontario in 1996 to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital. Since then, it has expanded across Canada helping a variety of children’s charities, hospitals and community programs.

Nutrition Program Volunteer Fundraising Profile:Ideas, we volunteers at St. Francis School's are looking into doing, are as follows:

•Shopping event at local mall with portion of sales going to Nutrition Program

• Going to farmers market with letters for donation (ask a couple questions get number and call back they will be to busy to answer you right there)

•Possible bake sale featuring low fat and low sugar bake goods made from diabetic recipes along with trays of fruits and veggies

•Entering grocery stores with letter of donations; it won’t hurt to ask all they can say is "no".

•Try asking your Tax lady to keep you in mind when she is doing taxes for her clients. She might run across someone who desperately needs to start donating some money and she will say this great program that feeds children across Waterloo Region and give your number to them.

•Try a fundraiser with a local restaurant you frequent. If you approach with the ability to raise their traffic by sending people there to eat maybe they would be willing to give a portion of the sales back to your school program

• Silent auctions at parent teacher events - look for donations for the events through stores with your donation letters. Dawn Rodrigues - St. Francis School
