Бути людиною", присвяченого великій людині –

архієпископу- емериту УГКЦ Блаженнішому Любомиру. У шести серіях фільму розповідається про життя єпископа

Української греко-католицької церкви Любомира Гузара,

який пережив Другу світову війну, емігрував за кордон та

повернувся в Україну, щоб служити своїй Батьківщині. "Любомир. Бути людиною" – це велика розповідь, в якій

крізь спогади Блаженнішого Любомира про батьків,

дитинство та юнацькі роки, його роздуми про людські

цінності та ідеали, показана ціла епоха та розказана

історія Української греко-католицької церкви, яка

тривалий час перебувала у вигнанні. Фільм містить унікальні кадри кінохроніки Львова 40-х

років ХХ століття, подій Другої світової війни та

учасників загону "Червона калина" - найбільшої та

найчисельнішої пластівської організації. "Я згодився на цей фільм задля того, щоб для майбутніх

молодих людей зробити запис, як виглядало наше життя,

коли ми були молодими", - так пояснив Блаженніший

мету стрічки.

MOLEBEN TO THE THEOTOKOS

On Wednesdays during the month of October

we will have a Moleben in honor of the Mother

of God, the Ever Virgin Mary, at 7:00 PM. After

the Moleben we will pray the rosary. We invite

all parishioners to join us as we gather in prayer to

honor the Holy Theotokos. RELIGION & MUSIC CLASSES TODAY

Mrs. Maryna Turiv will continue with guitar lessons for our

children. Today, at 10:00 AM she will have a class in the

Parish Room in the Astrodome. MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER GROUP

St. Josaphat Cathedral Parish would like to invite all married

couples to meet once a month on Saturday after the Divine

Liturgy. As we gather together we can discuss experiences and

challenges of married couples in today’s world and get

answers to questions you may have related to the teaching,

beliefs and laws of the Church in regard to marriage and

family.

on the list of couples interested in joining this new group. The

THE SOUNDS OF UKRAINE

The world-renowned Kyiv Chamber Choir will perform its first

-ever Cleveland concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday October 29,

2016 in St. Bartholomew Church–at 14865 Bagley Road in

we offered training to parishioners. The training session took

FILM OF LIFE OF HIS BEATITUDE LUBOMYR HUSAR

On Sunday, October 23rd, after the 11AM Divine Liturgy, in

the Men’s Club Room we will show the first (one half hour in

duration) in a 6 part series documentary film reviewing the

life of His Beatitude Lubomyr. Please stop by to see this great

story through the memories of Beatitude Lubomyr about his

parents, childhood and youth, his reflections on human values

and ideals and the story of the Ukrainian Catholic Church.

On Sunday, November 13th our parish will be celebrating the

feast of our patron saint, Josaphat, Bishop and Martyr. This is

a joyous day for our parish to join in prayer, thanksgiving and

fellowship. In order to come together as one family to

celebrate, we will be having two Divine Liturgies only on that

day. The English Divine Liturgy will be moved to 9:00 AM and

the Ukrainian Divine Liturgy will be moved to 10:30 AM. We

invite all parishioners who regularly attend the 8:00 AM

Divine Liturgy to join us at for the 10:30 AM Liturgy.

How Can I Make My Parish More Welcoming?

We are the people of God. The term people of God is found in the Old and New

Testaments and refers to a covenant between God and

humanity. God promises salvation and in return the people

promise their obedience. God said, “I will live in them and

walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be

my people” (2 Corinthians 6:16). Pope Benedict XVI, in speaking of the Church as the people of

God, said: “The Church, the people of God throughout the

world, united in faith and love and empowered by the Spirit

to bear witness to the risen Christ to the ends of the

earth” (Farewell Ceremony, 23rd World Youth Day, Sydney,

Australia, July 21, 2008). Membership of the people of God comes not by physical birth

but by faith in Christ and baptism.

We are the people of God. To make my parish more welcoming, we must first be

convinced that, as the people of God, we are called to welcome

others into the Church, to introduce them one person at a

time to Christ, and to walk with them on their journey of

faith. This task is not the sole responsibility of the priest but

belongs to all of us, lay women and men, religious, monastics

and clergy alike. It’s up to me to make a difference in my parish as to how

strangers are welcomed. I was a stranger and you welcomed me.
