ON GIVING
The Key Question You are called to be a disciple. A disciple's pri-mary relationship is not with the congregation but with Jesus. The congregation is the means through which we grow in faith and proclaim the good news. Giving is an important part of being in a relationship with Jesus. How we steward the finances that God has entrusted to us will have a huge impact on our discipleship. Financial stew-ardship has the potential to be either a roadblock to discipleship or a catalyst to a growing disciple-ship. The questions you ask shape the way you think about money and possessions. Let's imagine two people sitting in church on Sunday morning. A commitment card regard-ing their financial support of the congregation is in each of their hands. Sue is sitting there thinking, "How much of my money does the church need this year? How do I feel about how things are going at church these days? Times are tight, so can I really spare any more?" Next to Sue, Joe is thinking, "God has blessed me in so many ways. How do I feel God is calling me to respond to those blessings?" Sue's focus is on the need of the church to receive. Joe's focus is on the need of the giv-er to give. Sue is giving as a member, thinking first about the need of the institution. Joe is giv-ing as a disciple, thinking first about God's pres-ence in his life and God's call to him to respond to that presence. What questions are you asking as you think about what you will give? Our goal is to help you grow in your rela-tionship with Jesus through the use of the time, talent and money God has entrusted to you.
The question we invite you to consider is, "How is God calling you to respond to God's presence in your life?" [Ask, Thank, Tell] by Charles Lane, Augsburg, 2006

Upcoming Events!
Save the Date! The 2
nd Annual CLC Women’s Fall Gathering is
scheduled for November 19th
, 2016.

The day starts at 8:30 with coffee and treats and we’ll serve a delicious lunch about noon. So call your sisters, daughters, moms, granddaughters, and girl friends for scheduling this special event. We recommend the attendees be 9th grade or above. We’ll again be selling tickets - watch for more information as the date gets closer.
Project Updates
The following “Is Faith Caught or Taught?” was shared with her Congregation by Pastor Paula Geister-Jones regarding our CLC Bold Woman Joyce Geister. Paula shared this with our Coordination Team and we wanted to share it with you.
“This past weekend my family (Scott, Matt, Sophie, Luke and I) were in Glencoe, MN for the 9:00AM worship at Christ Lutheran, my home congregation. We were there because my mother was being honored as their first BOLD Woman of Faith. At the end of worship, during the an-nouncements, Nita Enderson got up and listed off all ways my mom had been involved in the congregation for over 50 years……..(her involvement was listed)
My 20 year old daughter Sophie’s comment was “Wow!” That was a long list!” Luke’s comment was, “Well, now you have something to live up to.” I was glad the children were there to share their grandmother’s day and to hear her sto-ry. The message came through loud and clear, my mother’s faith was important to her and serving her Lord was a prior-ity in her life. I definitely knew why I made my career choice. As , another Sunday school year begins and we get back to confirmation and God Games and the fall children’s musical and everything else, I want us all to be reminded that faith is as much caught as taught. WE listen to what our parents and grandparents and adults in our lives say, but we watch what they do and sometimes what they do speaks louder than their words. We have a wonderful con-gregation. It is full of kind and loving and generous people. Just do what you have always done and “Let your light so shine before others that they may see your good works – words and actions – that glorify your Father in heaven.”
