Fact 1New Zealand has more than 50 volcanoes. Here are some: Mt Ruapehu, Tongariro, Egmont ,and Tarawera.

In 1893 New Zealand became the first country to give woman the right to vote.

Fact 3The Waikato River is the longest river in New Zealand. It is in the North Island and starts at the Mountains south of Lake Taupo and ends just south of Auckland. It is 425 km long.

Fact 4New Zealand has 3 main islands the first is the North Island second is the South and the thrid is Stewart Island.

Facts 5&6New Zealand won the rugby world cup in 1987.

In over 100 years only 5 of the top twenty ranked test rugby nations have ever beaten the All Blacks.

Fact 7New Zealand has it’s own Christmas tree called the Pohutukawa tree.It bloosmes in summer with lovely red flowers.

Fact 8The biggest tree in New Zealand is Tane Mahuta. The height of the Tane Mahuta is 60 metres tall altogther but the trunk is about 5 metres.

Fact 9New Zealand has it’s own national icon called the Kiwi.The kiwi is related to the Emu,Ostrich and the ancient New Zealand Moa.It is a large flightless bird.

New Zealand has it’s own native lizard and that is the Tuatara. It has been around since the dinosaurs.
