Greetings BOSC Members,

Hopefully everyone is en-

joying the wonderful Fall

weather! I certainly have

been. There are so many fun

holidays to look forward to

in the next couple of months.

Halloween and one of my

favorites...Thanksgiving.

With Fall comes a busy sea-

son for BOSC as well. We

have our November Bunco

social coming up on the 12th

of November. Be sure to

wear your hot pink and black

and come ready for a fun

time! December's social is

right around the corner as

well. We have changed the

day and time on that social.

We decided to make that an

evening social so the new

date and time is December

9th at 6:30 PM at the Barks-

dale Club. We are still look-

ing for a few more "models"

for this event. If you are in-

terested in having a personal

stylist style you for our fash-

ion show, please contact

[email protected] or

[email protected]. It is

going to be a great event.

Last month's Fall Basket

Auction was so much fun.

We raised a total of

$2,149.00 for BOSC's chari-

table endeavors. A huge

thank you to all of you for

your donations, your time

and your support. Without

each and everyone of you

helping this would not have

Charity of the Month

Charity Disclaimer

*The BOSC supports a variety of charities that fall within the guidelines of our

mission statement. We do no discriminate based on religion, race, or creed. All

donations made by members are voluntary and not required.

I would like to thank our membership for such a great response to the needs of the

Shreveport/Bossier Mission. If you would still like to be involved with helping the

mission you can look them up on facebook or stop by and volunteer your time.

Our charity for the months of November and December is the Airman's Attic. The

Airman's Attic primarily helps all active duty families (E-4 and below) with access

to a variety of much needed items. However a few facts that you may not know

are:

- All active duty ranks can shop for military uniforms anytime of the month

- ALL RANKS week is the last week of each month with a Tuesday and a Thurs-

day in it, although some items in the store may be limited to E4 and below.

We are going to be collecting coats and also baby items to donate, so time to clean

out our closets. When going through items to donate just make sure they are still

in good condition (i.e. not torn, soiled or broken).

If you would rather donate your time, the Attic is always in need of volunteers.

Mondays from 9am-noon and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am – closing.

Thank you for your continuing generosity!

November 8-10

Mr. William Lee is looking for assistance from the Private Orgs to help provide break-

fast for the Wounded Warrior Hunt from 8-10 Nov.

This breakfast would be provided to the Warriors and their support team during their

stay.

Please see details below:

- Sat. 8 Nov - Sun 9 Nov- Breakfast for about 20. Anything like breakfast burritos,

sausage biscuits, fruit, pastries... something quick and easy. These types of foods will

allow our hunters to carry them to the woods with them to eat later if they

like. NOTE: Breakfast will be early, about an hour before daylight.

- Mon. 10 Nov - Warriors depart, any type of breakfast would be fine. They just want

to send them off with a full belly. There is a stove in the area that they will feed the

warriors, if anyone needs to use it.

If you are able to assist Mr. Lee with this event, please contact him directly at 456-

5273 or [email protected]. Thank you.

What do you like best about the Barksdale, Shreveport & Bossier area? I love that this area has a distinct culture. We love the local life

here so much that we intend to stick around. Some of my favor-

ite things from this area include king cake, Mardigras parades,

crawfish, and jazz music like the New Orleans Cotton Mouth

Kings. Unlike many who hate the heat and humidity, we thrive in

fully only station.

What is something that most people don’t know about you? 30 minutes prior to leaving to be induced for labor at the hospi-

tal, I performed acupuncture on myself to help with induction,

contractions, and stamina.

What has been one of the challenging aspects of military life? Deployments and a non-consistent schedule are the most chal-

lenging aspects for me especially because I am one of those

“super planners”.

What has been one of the best aspects of military life? One of the best aspects of military life is having a built-in sup-

port system. There are so many ways to be involved that there

really isn’t a reason to be lonely.
