Youth Venture Updates United Way Baltimore

Congratulations to the United Way of Central Maryland for winning the UWNCM-Tyco/SimplexGrinnell Competition. As the winner, United Way of Central Maryland is the chosen location to expand the United Way Youth Venture partnership. YV Mourns Loss of Ted Sizer All of us here at YV are saddened by the recent passing of Ted Sizer, a true educational innovator and an early supporter of Youth Venture. Professor Sizer served as a member of the Youth Venture Advisory Council for many years and his contributions will be sorely missed. Read More>>

 

Golden Opportunities Powered by Service Grants

Two grant options of $500 are currently available for youth ages 12-20 who want to bring positive change to their community. Deadline: Ongoing Dell Social Innovation Competition

Seeking college students from arounthe world to submit their ideas on hoto innovatively address social problems. Prizes range from $10,000to $50,000.   Deadline: March 1, 2010 National Service-Learning Conference

The NSLC will take place in San Jose, CA on March 24-27, 2010. It wigather over 2,500 youth and leaders involved in service-learning across theUS and world. Registration Deadline: March 3, 2010

Youth Venture Spotlight My Own Book My Own Book is dedicated to spreading the joy of reading to less fortunate K-3rd graders.The Venture sends groups of teens to elementary schools to read aloud and inspire young students to embrace reading by allowing each child to choose a brand new book to take home.
