DC Community Newsletter May 2010 April Fools Happy Hour a Success April 1st saw hundreds of Youth Venture supporters come out to Madam's Organ in Ada Morgan. A great time was had by all as people played trivia and Youth Venture continue to build momentum in the DC area. All the proceeds from the April Fools Happy Hour will support launching Youth Venture teams in DC. Youth Venture and LSI Collaborate to send 37 Venture Teams to Panel On April 8th, Youth Venture and LearnServe International worked together to launch 37 Ventures. The Venturers hail from every corner of the DC Metro Area and their ideas are as diverse and well-rounded as the Venturers themselves. The Panel included 12 Panel rooms and over 50 Panelists and Moderators at the School Without Walls in Foggy Bottom. A Venture Fair was held after the Panel for families, teachers, and community members to admire the work these youth have undertaken since September. These 37 youth teams now join the more than 3,500 other Venture Teams around the world seekin to write their generation's history. Volunteer Profile: Ameet Purohit Ameet is a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton who has served as a Coach for the Dream It. Do It. Challenge, a Panelist, and a Panel Moderator in addition to fervently supporting Youth Venture sponsored events. Ameet became involved with YV because it combined his interests in education with the entrepreneurial work the youth undertake. He also appreciates YV's volunteer scheduling, which makes it easy for professionals to get involved. When asked about his experiences with the Dream It. Do It. Challenge, Ameet said "Over the course of the DDC, I didn't know that I could be so lucky as to see teens use their passion and their desire to become a force for change within their community."
