Golf Cart Safety Tips What a better way to travel through our Community than in your golf cart!
We have put together a list of safety tips while using your golf cart. Some may seem obvious, however:
In the State of Arizona, only licensed drivers can operate a golf cart. Always drive responsibly: arms and legs should always remain in the cart.
Never drive intoxicated or under the influence of any drugs or narcotic.
Avoid distractions while operating your golf cart. No matter the size of a vehicle, it's still an automobile. Remain attentive. Always check your blind spots before turning. When making a left hand turn, yield to the through traffic lane and merge into the lane before turning left.
Use caution while turning and look behind your golf cart before backing up.
Watch your speed. In Cottonwood Palo Verde the maximum speed is 25 MPH. Please observe the speed limit.
Do not leave keys in your golf cart while unattended and always make sure to set the parking break.
Pedestrians always have the right of way.
By practicing these important safety rules we all will live in a safer community.
THE COTTONWOOD
POOL/LAP POOL/SPA will be closed Aug. 1 through Aug. 31 for maintenance.
FITNESS ACTIVITY CENTER (FAC) UPDATE This week, work continues on the drywall installation; the exterior glazing installation has started, with the exception of the automatic sliding front doors, and the A/C units are installed. The Open House held last Saturday, 7/13, was a huge success. A minimum of 200 homeowners took the tour and we heard many exclamations of WOW! Just wait until you see the final product, still scheduled to be completed mid to late October…more WOW! to come. If you were unable to take the walk through, check the website for weekly updated photos or stop by Homeowner Services to keep up with the progress. The site remains a hard hat area - authorized personnel only.

ODDS & ENDS
PREVENT SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS It's probably happened to most of us. That momentary lapse of attention, thinking about a personal issue or a distraction that ends in a slip, trip or fall.
In general, slips and trips occur due to a loss of traction between the shoe and the walking surface or an inadvertent contact with a fixed or moveable object which may lead to a fall.
At home: proper lighting is very important. Upon entering a darkened room, always turn on a light first. Keep areas around light switches clear and accessible. Keep all walking areas clean and orderly.
While out in one of our Lounges, Restaurants, or common area: Please be aware Managers and all staff are concerned with your safety. Report a spill immediately. When standing up from a seating position take a moment, gain your balance, then step.
Any "Slip, Trip or Fall", Patrol will be called along with 911 to aid you. Please follow the instructions of trained medical staff when they respond, and know Patrol is there to assist as well but will always take a background position to medical personnel.

VOLUNTEER TO BE ON A COMMITTEE We are currently seeking homeowners to volunteer for the 2019-2020 committee year that commences November 1
st.
Committee/Task Force Member Application Forms are available at the Administration Center or can be downloaded from our website: www.cottonwoodpaloverde.com under "Downloadable Forms." Completed forms must be returned to the Administration Center.
Deadline for application is September 15th
. Tenure on committees is limited to two years. If you are finishing your first term on a committee and plan to reapply for a second term, you must complete and turn in a new application.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE COMMITTEE The Food and Beverage Committee acts as a liaison between the Board of Directors, the homeowners and the professional staff that manages the Cottonwood and Palo Verde Country Clubs.
The Food and Beverage Committee discusses upcoming events, promotes and supports the acquisition of new equipment, attends special events which include Food and Beverage activities and offers ideas and support to club management.
Our homeowners keep the committee members abreast of their concerns by personal observations and through the use of the restaurant comment cards. This committee provides weekly and monthly reports of this input to the Board of Directors.
Food & Beverage Committee meetings are normally held on the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 AM, in the Saguaro Room. Guests are always welcome. Coffee and donuts are provided! It’s a fun way to get involved, hear and keep up with what is happening at each venue and become an active part of the social fabric of this great community. No particular culinary experience is required provided that you are active, use the clubs regularly, enjoy expressing your opinion and like to have fun.
Become a member of this committee and get involved in our community. Do something that we all enjoy – MAKE OUR FOOD & BEVERAGE AMENITIES EVEN BETTER!!!
2nd HALF HOMEOWNER DUES - PAST DUE The second half Homeowner Dues for Cottonwood residents is $710.00 and for Palo Verde residents, $803.50 (includes gate fee). Payment was due by Monday, 7/1/19.
Billing notices are mailed as a courtesy. Even if you do not receive a billing notice you are still responsible for paying your dues on time.
NOTE: If you are enrolled in auto-debit for your homeowner dues or have already paid your second half dues, you may disregard this notice.
ROCKS-ROCKS Please ask your landscapers to refrain from blowing landscape rocks onto the common area grass. When the lawn mowers encounter rocks in the grass they shoot out and may hit a person or window.
COTTONWOOD WATER VOLLEYBALL Starting Tuesday, Sept. 3, Water Volleyball will begin in the Cottonwood Main Pool every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30pm-6:30pm. All Cottonwood & Palo Verde homeowners (only) are welcome to join in this cool and fun game. No fee to play. For more information or to volunteer to help, contact: Bob at [email protected].
IRRIGATION, WATER & MOSQUITOES Please drain pet watering bowls, bird baths, etc. weekly, repair water leaks in your yard, and reprogram your irrigation system for the time of year and monsoons. Mosquitoes must have water to complete their life cycle and any stagnant water can increase mosquito activity. Let's do what we can to prevent overwatering and mosquitoes in our CWPV neighborhood.

RECREATION/ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE When you live in Cottonwood Palo Verde, the health and vitality of the community can be attributed to the variety of activities and amenities available to you. It is the responsibility of the Recreation/Entertainment Committee to be the eyes, ears and voice of the residents to make recommendations to the Board and/or Management concerning a variety of topics relating to our recreational activities and amenities.
The Recreation/Entertainment Committee Charter states the Committee: recommend procedures for the use and reservations of all recreational facilities and activity rooms; recommend procedures for monitoring of recreational facilities to ensure they are used primarily for Association members; propose changes to the recreational facilities and maintenance on an as needed basis; recommend specific rules for use of the facilities in the balanced best interest of the Association membership; conduct regular reviews of all recreational facilities to ensure they are being used for the best interest of the membership and Association; assist the Recreation Manager in coordinating some selected special events, concerts, etc. requiring additional planning and execution.
Serving on the Recreation/Entertainment Committee is a great way to give back to the community and to have a voice in how to maintain our communities' quality of life. The Committee meets the first Monday of each month at 1:30 pm in the Phoenix Room. Applications can be found on our website, or at Homeowner Services.
