“Goodness Gracious”, as my Grandmother used to say. Where has this year gone? Summer has slipped by, most of the kids are back in school, and it’s time for some rallies. September’s is a “no host” rally. We have 4 sites available, so give me a call, or email, to reserve your site.

Regional Rally is in October. I’m unable to go, something called “work” gets in the way. Is anyone going? November Rally is the 16th to the 18th. We don’t have a host or co-host yet. We would welcome anyone to help with the weekend. We would like to keep it easy, like maybe burgers and hot dogs or anything simple???

Our Trailer PhotoshootBy Dan and Marcy SmithHello San Diego Streamers. Marcy and I were representing our club last month with a magazine called Pacific San Diego.  They contacted a few of us via our website looking for an airstream to use in a photo shoot in their September issue. It was short notice, only 3 days, but we decided to go for it and have a neat experience. The place was a parking lot at the Glider port in La Jolla.  It was on dirt and not very level, but you can do wonders with a camera and the trailer was just used in the background.

The theme was fashion and autos for the Sept issue. The model was Karina Smirnoff. She arrived in a large black limo bus with about 5 helpers. Makeup, clothes, accessories and such.  She is an Ukrainian Ballroom dancer and has been on the show Dancing with the Stars. I parked the rig and they put a 1970 Ford 350 Shelby Mustang in front of it. We were there about 5 hours on a Friday watching all the things that go on. Then we had to head to work.  We are hopping to get a few copies from them in the mail so we can show members at the rallies. But keep your eye out for the Sept issue. San Diego unit is suppose to be mentioned in the article for our willingness to help.  Dan & Marcy

REGION OFFICER ELECTIONS It is now time for our Region 12 election process to begin. !Our region elected officers are President, 1st Vice President and 2nd Vice President. !Other officers such as Recording Secretary and Treasurer are appointed positions. !!Karen Walton, Golden West Unit, has agreed to serve as chairman of the Nominating Committee. !Serving with her will be Ray Burmaster, NorCal Unit and Jim Howard, Long Beach Unit.!If you would like to be considered for one of these positions, please send your resume along with a statement of your goals/objectives for Region 12 to Karen at 6942 Wake Forest Lane, Citrus Heights, CA 95621 or email to her at jimandkaren@surewest.net. !Your information should reach Karen no later than September 28, 2012. !She will then contact all applicants to schedule interviews with the Committee at the Region Rally in Bakersfield.!The Nominating Committee will select the best qualified candidate for each office to be on the ballot. !No later than January 31, 2013 the Nominating Committee will send a ballot to all unit presidents who will poll his/her unit to determine which candidate to select for each office. !The ballot will allow space for write-in candidates. !Each unit has one ballot. !The unit president must return his/her ballot to the Region Secretary by April 25, 2013 (late postmarks will not be counted). !The ballots shall be counted by the Region Secretary in the presence of at least one incumbent region officer and announced promptly, prior to May 5, 2013. !The Region President shall certify the names of the newly elected officers to Headquarters. !The newly elected officers will be installed at the International Rally in Huron, S.D.!Sincerely,Judy BechtholdRegion 12 President

Special election to fill 2nd VP position!Joe ten Berge, WBCCI Region 12 First Vice President has tendered his resignation due to health reasons effective September 1, 2012.!!Following is from WBCCI Blue Book Bylaws, Article IX, Regions, Section 2.D.:!"In the event of the death or resignation of the President or the death, advancement or resignation of a Vice President or an officer’s inability to fulfill the duties of office, the next ranking Vice President shall advance thereto. When a vacancy occurs, other than by reason of expiration of the term of office of Second Vice President, the Region President shall notify each Unit President of the vacancy and request each one's assistance in identifying interested and qualified candidates. The office of Second Vice President shall be filled by a majority vote of the region board from nominees submitted by the Region Executive Committee. To allow sufficient time for Unit Presidents to contact their members such office of Second Vice President will not be filled in less than sixty (60) days from notification to Unit Presidents of such vacancy. (1/20/95)"!Robert Stansbury, current Region 12 Second VP, will advance to the First VP position leaving Second VP open.! Please forward this to your members and ask that they send the name(s) of anyone who wants to be considered for the position to you and you will then forward the name(s) to me. Where I come from, people say “Les gens heureux n'ont pas d'histoire.” Seems like happy Airstreamers don’t have any story to talk about either. They just enjoy every minute they spend on the road or camping with their friends.
