New Mining Legislation“Our government is proud of this legislation and the important steps it has taken to balance the interests of the mineral industry, aboriginal communities and private landowners. Through our Modernized Mining Act, we will see Ontario benefit and our mining industry thrive for decades to come” – Rick Bartolucci – Ex-Minister Northern Development and Mines

An Industry Reply – “the regulations result in a total transfer of all natural resources to the control of hostile, third-party governments. Canadians must do everything possible to stop this ill-conceived, race-based initiative.” Darryl Stretch President Solid Gold Resources

First Nation Response – “It is the duty of the Crown – the governments of Canada and Ontario – to ensure the First Nation treaty and aboriginal rights, as well as the duty to consult – are addressed. The current approach encouraged by both governments – for industry to be responsible for undertaking the requirement to address treaty and aboriginal rights, and the duty to consult with First Nations - Is Not Acceptable” Harvey Yesno – Grand Chief, Nishnawbe Aski Nation - (Grand Chief of 49 F.N’s – Oji-Cree Treaties 9 & 5)Source: Sudbury Mining Journal, December 2012
