Principal’s Report Presentation Day What a wonderfully successful day! Presentation Day is the most important date on the school calendar, the day we celebrate our students’ academic, cultural and sporting achievements. A chance to highlight Nambucca Primary Schools dedication to maximising every students’ educational outcomes and to announce to the whole school community the wide range of programs that our talented and dedicated staff provide to their students. It is also a chance to publicly acknowledge our many supporters and thank the organisations and individuals who support and who are in partnership with Nambucca Primary. The theme of the day was the amazing opportunities students who attend Nambucca Primary are able to access, and the successes we have enjoyed. One example, of many, is the consistent success our Tournament of Minds Teams have enjoyed over the past five years. Competing against larger schools and private schools, we have won the North Coast Regional finals and competed at State level in one division every year for the past five years! This is a significant achievement and I congratulate all involved. Congratulations to our students who sat patiently, demonstrating excellent behaviour for over two hours. Thank you to parents, carers and community members who attended, supporting their children, grandchildren and family members. Your attendance demonstrates you care about your child’s education, that you see it as important, it encourages your children. A big thank you to Mrs Bonventi who has worked very hard to coordinate the day. Thank you also to our tireless P&C, our General Assistant, Phil, and cleaner Mick who prepared a sausage sandwich for students, parents and staff. It was a pleasant end to our Presentation Day to be able to enjoy the company of our many visitors. 6JW Projects If you are visiting school please take the time to enjoy the excellent projects from 6JW in the foyer. certain you will be impressed. Thank you Mrs White and 6JW for sharing them.

Helpers Morning Tea Today we enjoyed a delicious morning Tea with the many volunteers who willingly assist classroom teachers and our whole school community. We can’t thank our volunteers enough for their generosity towards NHPS. We would like to extend the invitation to all parents, carers and friends of NHPS to become involved in our school. We are sure you will find the experience immensely rewarding. Ways you can help include being a classroom helper, a reading tutor, a canteen helper, a sports coach, assisting at sporting events, covering library and/or text books, to name a few!

Principal’s Morning Tea Invitations have been distributed to students who have attained their Principal’s Award. A reward morning tea will occur on Thursday 8th December. Congratulations to all students who have attained their Principal’s Award this year.

End of Year With only seven school days left before the end of the school year, it is important to maintain the high

standard of behaviour and work at school. Please keep your children in school uniform and encourage the excellent attendance we enjoy at NHPS. If you have a daughter attending NHPS we would appreciate you purchasing school shorts. A number of girls have commenced wearing short denim or tight sports shorts. We would encourage you to monitor the clothing worn to school and to ensure students are in school uniform. If this is difficult, please call in and see Mrs Woodhouse in the office or Mrs Joske and we may be able to assist you . Be vigilant with your children during the school holidays. Remind them of the dangers of getting into cars with strangers and ensure they wear safety helmets whilst riding pushbikes, skateboards and scooters. We look forward to seeing our students back in 2012 for another fantastic year at NHPS. All the best goes to Mr McMahon for a speedy recovery. Our entire staff wish our whole school community a Merry Christmas, a happy New Year and a safe and happy holiday.

Kinder Visit Local Businesses

Last Monday KM & K-1G walked to the main street of Nambucca Heads where they visited many shops and businesses as part of their “Places we Know” topic they have been learning about to find out about dif-ferent jobs and to learn about our local area. A very big thank you to Wendy’s Coifure, Nambucca Florist, Harvey World Travel, BCU, Newspower Newsagency, Guardian Pharmacy, Club Butchery, Bradley’s Real Estate & Valla Beach Bakery who wel-comed us and gave us a behind the scenes look at their business and taught us a little bit about their jobs.

A Special Note from the P&C President

I was unable to acknowledge the contributions by P&C members and canteen volunteers to our school at our schools Presentation Day. Your contribution is invaluable and is of-ten unnoticed because it is to often just done without a request. The P&C and Canteen could not function with-out your support. This is a recogni-tion of your contribution and I look forward to being able to work alongside you all next year while we work to provide opportunities for our children. Thank you canteen volunteers Mi-chelle Edgar, Matt Knight, Marie Reiss, Carol Donnelly, Brad Wilson, Nicole Malouf, Cathy McDonald, Deslie Townley, Sharon Keers, An-nette Bush.

Thanks must also go to Claire Daniels, our canteen supervisor. Your happy, easy going attitude makes you a pleasure to be around and so easy to work with. I would also like to welcome and thank our newest members for tak-ing a positive step forward in en-suring the P&C continues its very important role within the school. And to the long term supporters, without you there would be no P&C. You have stood proud & strong through tough times and have ensured the schools biggest supporter, the P&C, will stay strong into the future. Sandra Goodby P&C President
