An East Valley Real Life Story

Jason Sherman—Speaker for NAIFA-East Valley meeting September 15, 2011

Right up until the very moment that everything changes forever, Jason Sherman’s life seems to be following a rec-ognizable path. He goes off to college, meets the girl of his dreams, experiences love at first sight, and finds him-self facing marriage and parenthood. Two children and nearly eleven years of marriage later, Jason is a husband and father in his early thirties. During a romantic evening out on the town between this Arizona everyman and his beloved wife, Nicole, the unspeakable occurs, and shatters the lives of Jason and his two girls. Jason lives with his now three beautiful girls, Hailey, McKenna, and Avery, in Mesa, Arizona, not far from where he grew up. He works in the retail industry, but derives his greatest pride and joy from being a father, a son, a brother, a nephew, a cousin, an in-law, a friend, and a co-parent and fiancée to his sweetheart, Courtney. First and foremost, Jason is a family man. He is also the author “Diary of a Widowed Dad”. Come join us for this compelling meeting as we hear the real life story of one of our member’s clients and be re-energized about our profession and the great importance of the work we do for our clients.

Community Service

We have selected two organizations to focus our community service on for the

2011/2012 year.

AzBrainFood:

There are a surprising number of children who receive free breakfast in our public schools, these children also received the ―poor kid‖ lunch dur-ing the week. The problem comes over the weekend when there is no food for these children. AzBrainFood provides a sack of food on Friday that is discreetly place in their backpacks & taken home for the weekend. The schools stats are showing that these children are coming back on Monday in an improved frame of mind, less conflict, improved attention spans & now better grades. NAIFA-East Valley will be collecting funds to support this program. The cost per child per school year is $200. The total amount of your donations will determine how many children we will spon-sor. Put your donation into the brown lunch bag at the registration desk

or the one on your table.

Mesa Fresh Start:

Need to clean your bookshelves! NAIFA-East Valley will be collecting self-help, moti-

vational & How-to books to help Fresh Start build their library.

Fresh Start has been very active in the Phoenix area for years; they are now expand-

ing to Mesa. Fresh Start provides resource and referrals to any women wanting to re-

enter the workforce. The resources include classes, seminars & counseling, as well as

access to a well-stocked Library. Take a look at your bookshelves – I bet there are a

couple of books that you no longer need. Bring them to the September meeting.
