When filming Me, Alex and Tom all did filming, we shot in 1080p and 25 frames a second in all the filming apart from the day at Strangeways where we accidentally filmed in 1080p but with 24 frames a second so when editing we had to resize the clips to the screen. Also on the day at Strangeways we ran into trouble with employees of the prison as we had not asked permission to record they needed to know who we were and why we were filming footage there;

When it came to the filming in general we worked off a guideline in the form of the storyboards we created, but most of the more dynamic and narrative shots were thought up on the day, there was a few shots where the depth of field looked really nice and added to the video substantially.

Stage 2- Rough Edit

This is the timeline of my rough edit of my music video, during the rough edit the first thing I did was just the put the clips in an order I liked and then started to edit the length and the look of them and made the lip syncing parts in sync with the audio track.

Page 4: Music video task 1

I didn’t use some of the shots either because they didn’t come out the way they liked them or they didn’t make sense narratively. Me and Alex also decided during the process of the rough edit to record an ignition shot of a match so the story made more sense which I later added in my final edit, I didn’t like the lighting of the shot because it was dark by the time we did it and although it did make the match stand out and look more significant it didn’t match the style of the video but I decided the swap out for a good story was one worth taking.

Stage 3- Final Edit without effect

During the final edit I changed things such as; the sizing of shots to get rid of unwanted objects in shot, adding a transition in the chair throw shot, moving the lip syncing back a frame, added the ignition shot, colour correcting the ignition shot so it matched the style of the video more and adding two shots that Alex created with a cctv style effect on them.

Here is the match shot before I colour corrected it;

Here is it after;

I had to sacrifice quality of the shot a little bit but it later didn’t matter when I added the vintage effect as it improved it.

Here is one of the shots that Alex edited;

Stage 4- Adding the vintage effect/ Perfecting the vintage effect and final edit

I later created a vintage effect to add to the videos style, I did this on after effects by watching a tutorial on youtube and tailoring it to what I wanted.

Once completed I didn’t like the look of it I thought it was too bright and too striking for the whole video so I decided to do some tinkering to tailor it to what I wanted, it took a while experimenting for me to be happy with it but finally I got it how I wanted and it came out like this;

Page 7: Music video task 1

It came out less striking and gave it more rustic gritty look to it that I tried to achieve. You could mistake it for not having an effect at all on it which pleased me because it looked realistic and seamless but if you look below you can see the difference between the two is quite a lot.
