Praise the Lord! A new year is upon us for new beginnings, new opportunities, and new endeavors. I pray this prayer of blessings for you this new year and invite you to pray it for yourselves and others.

Blessings,

Pastor Dan Lyons

A New Year’s Blessing

May God make your year a happy one!

Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,

but by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;

Not by making your path easy,

but by making you sturdy to travel any path;

Not by taking hardships from you,

but by taking fear from your heart;

Not by granting you unbroken sunshine,

but by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows;

Not by making your life always pleasant,

but by showing you when people

and their causes need you most,

and by making you anxious to be there to help.

God’s love, peace, hope and joy to you for the year ahead.

Amen. (author unknown)

A HUGE thank you to all the MC Kids and MO CHAP

youth and their families for donating food, attending

and helping out at stations at our first annual

carnival-o-rama! Everyone had a blast! Thank you

again for all your support and prayers as we grow the

family of God together!

Thanks...Sam and Drew

Sam’s Corner I know to some of you it is hard to believe that I am getting ready to work on a project for VBS, actually in all actuality, I start working on VBS for the next year before the current VBS is over! Our theme for 2015 VBS is, Everest: Conquering Challenges with God’s Mighty Power. In many pictures I have seen of Mount Everest, I noticed the many colorful flags hanging throughout the mountains. After some research, these flags are called Tibetan Pray flags, which traditionally carry messages of peace, compassion, prosperity or happiness. The prayer flags are colorful panels or rectangular pieces of cloth often hung along the mountain ridges in the Himalayan mountains to bless the countryside or send out a message of goodwill. As the wind blows through the flags the prayers are being lifted up. How cool is that????

My vision over the next months leading up to our VBS is that I would like to create Morris Chapel VBS prayer flags that our whole church can take part of creating prayer blessings for our VBS. Well, this leads me up to where I NEED SOME HELP…I am looking for panels or rectangular pieces of cloth or fabric in blue, white, red, green and yellow, so we can start to work on the flags. During VBS these flags with prayers and drawings on them will be displayed around the church and outside. So, if you have some fabric or cloth that needs a new home, you may drop them off at my office.

Thank you in advance

Samantha
