Benchmark of Quality
What is it and why do we do it?
Benchmark of Quality• Checklist filled out by team• Used to take a deeper look at PBIS practices• Authors are Florida PBIS project
Benchmarks of Quality (BoQ)This checklist provides a scope and sequence for implementing schoolwide behavior supports. Schools should not expect to see change in student behavior until a score of at least 70% is achieved.
Benchmarks of Quality (BoQ) results are used to identify areas of strength in the implementation of Schoolwide PBIS and areas in need of development. These areas should inform action plans for the sustained implementation of Schoolwide PBIS.
Benchmarks of Quality (BoQ)• Completed by the PBIS building leadership
team, including coach
• Completed annually, typically in the Spring
• Requires ≈ 45 minutes to complete
• The purpose of this module is to explain and complete the BoQ with your team
Benchmarks of Quality (BoQ)• Looks at these critical elements:
– PBIS Team– Faculty Commitment– Effective Procedures for Dealing with Discipline– Data Entry & Analysis Plan– Expectations & Rules Developed– Rewards/Recognition Program Established– Lesson Plans for Teaching Expectations/Rules– Implementation Plan– Classroom Systems– Evaluation
Why the TIC, SAS, and BoQ?• Using multiple measures
improves our confidence that our results are accurate and helps to ensure that we select the appropriate action items.
• The TIC, SAS and BoQ do not measure exactly the same thing.
• They allow us to look at our SWPBS system from slightly different angles.
