INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EXAMSIMEs are performed by experienced, typically board-certified and actively practicing physi-cians throughout the states of Oregon, Washing-ton, Arizona and Nevada, as well as many other states.

MEDICAL PEER REVIEWSThe medical records are sorted and organized and a chronology is developed by MMO. The physician reviewer is asked to determine the di-agnoses in relation to the accident/injury; to ad-dress issues such as causation; reasonableness, necessity, and relatedness of treatment and di-agnostics; apportionment of treatment. The re-viewers are asked to be specific and to explain the rationale of their conclusions, so our client can defend and understand the report.

BILLING/CODING REVIEWSThe Certified Coding Specialist will evaluate bills and chart notes and submit a report that details the appropriateness of charges and codes. Ex-act dollar reimbursement recommendations are made and explained by the specialist.

TREATMENT AUDITS A Treatment Audit combines a peer review with a billing and coding review. The physician review-er identifies what treatment is reasonable and necessary and related. The MMO billing and cod-ing specialist scrutinizes the allowed treatment for billing and coding discrepancies and devel-ops an exact dollar reimbursement amount.

CASE CHRONOLOGYParticularly useful in large cases, a chronologi-cal summary is done by a specialized medical claims consultant or Registered Nurse. This sum-mary highlights the sequence of claim events, onset and evolution of symptoms, gaps in treat-ment, other injuries, and missing records. The key issues are outlined for the claim representa-tive or attorney to consider.

LITIGATION SUPPORTMedical Management Online takes the guess-work out of scheduling a medical expert for testimony. We facilitate confirmation of the tes-timony date/time between the expert and the attorney. Then a confirmation letter is emailed to both parties with the testimony information. MMO provides cost estimates and late cancel-lation timeframes to our client. Pre-trial or pre-arbitration conferences are expedited and addi-tional medical records can be forwarded to the expert. If the case settles or is rescheduled, this is communicated to the expert immediately.
