With innovative materials for a new sealing system as well as the latest laser welding techniques, we have set a new standard for cell sealing and reliability. This has allowed us to increase hearing aid battery capacity by up to 20%.

CoinPower

VARTA Microbattery is developing future lithium-ion energy storage solutions with high energy densities and a wide range of applications. Special focus is being placed on up-and-coming markets and applications such as Bluetooth, ZigBee, autonomous microsensor systems and energy harvesting.

VOLKSWAGEN and VARTA collaborate

Our goal is to increase the performance capacity of lithium-ion batteries for use in electric vehicles. The new batteries must be lighter and longer-lasting to allow electric vehicles to travel longer distances.

The environmental impact of our batteries over their entire life-time is evaluated during the development process. In accor-dance with company policy, raw materials are used sparingly and products are made to be recyclable. We are one of the leading developers of mercury-free cells.

We are increasingly using sophisticated technologies in our manufacturing processes to incorporate environmental protec-tion. It is our express goal to reduce waste water, fumes and refuse.
