Staff MatchingWhat is it?

What is Staff Matching?
3
It is the concerted effort on the part of a provider
organization to recruit and train staff who match the
interests and personalities of a person or people who use
services
The match can be for a home, a classroom, a person, or an
activity
The person determines which supports they want in order
to support the life they want
Determining That “Perfect Match”
4
A customized profile for the ideal staff match is developed by
the person and it includes:
The skills necessary to support the person(s) to provide the
needed supports
The personality traits of the desired for that staff
Any shared Interests with the desired staff
Matching for People Through Body Language
5
How to match with people who communicate with body
language:
• Use the “Typical Day/Better Day/Worse Day” scenario
• Analyze those “Days” and characteristics of staff who make
“Better Days” for that person
• When a person seeks out a staff member’s company, describe the
characteristics of that staff, and why the person sought him/her out.
• Ask people who know the person well about staff who get along
best with the person, or who the person goes to for comfort, laughs
aloud with most, etc.
