Father’s Day is approaching. Again, no need to wait for just that one special day to express

to your father or father figure, how very important they are to you. Try something just from your heart, like a poem or a card made from scratch. I know those are things that children do a lot, however, it still works as a grown up child.

What Makes a Dad?

God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree,The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea,The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night,The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle’s flight,The joy of a morning in spring, The faith of a mustard seed,The patience of eternity, The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,When there was nothing more to add,He knew His masterpiece was complete, And so,

He called it … Dad

All residents remember to send in your photos, stories, news, happenings, social events, charities, scout news, school news and more. Meadow Pointe News is all about. For the Hidden Picture Contest this month, let’s do something fun for Dads. Look for a small baseball. We hid it well in one of the ads, however if you find it and your name is picked, you will win a $25 gift card to a local restaurant. Send in photos and hidden picture entries to [email protected].

MP1 Assessments Will Decrease by Over $300During the May 3 CDD meeting, the Board of Supervisors approved a draft budget for FY 2013 (October 2012 – September 2013). Most residential property owners will see a decrease in the total assessment of $307.52 or 33 percent, as a result of the CDD paying off the bonds issued in 1992 to build the infrastructure for the community.

What Your CDD Assessments Pay ForThe CDD assessment is collected to provide operation and maintenance funds. Services pro-vided by the CDD include all the community center facilities (swimming pools, tennis courts,

volleyball courts, racquetball court, clubhouse and meeting rooms), streetlights throughout the CDD, landscape maintenance of County Line Road and Aronwood Boulevard, resi-dential trash pickup, and maintenance of the retention ponds. The draft budget also includes adequate funds to continue our program to renew and expand the facilities and to build up reserve funds.

Public Hearing Scheduled to Finalize the 2013 BudgetThe public hearing to adopt the FY 2013 budget will be conducted during the CDD meeting to be held on August 16, at 6:30 PM in the clubhouse. A copy of the draft budget is posted on our website. Each property owner will receive a letter in June or July containing the legal notice for the public hearing and a chart showing a breakdown of the assessments by fund. They will also receive the “Notice of Proposed Property Taxes and Proposed or Adopted Non-Ad Velorem Assessments” commonly referred to as the “TRIM” notice in late-August. Please note that the CDD assess-ment indicated in these notices is an estimate, however, the assessment cannot exceed the amount stated in the TRIM notice.

As a new service to our residents, we are start-ing a free gently used book share and exchange. This is a great chance for you to clear out all those old novels around your house! A book bin will be available for all books donated at the CDD office in the Fitness Center Building, and

A Caring dentistB.k. Parasher, D.D.S.

Times flies when doing work one loves and has a passion for. For Dr. B.K. Parasher, known to beloved patients and friends as Barry, this has been true in every sense of the word. Dr. Parasher has been practicing Dentistry for over 32 years but it seems only yesterday that he began this course in life that would lead him from a baby in India to a child in England and now a Dentist in the Tampa Bay area for over 20 years!

After moving at a very young age from India to England, Dr. Parasher spent the majority of his educational upbringing in England. Throughout his education, he excelled academically. His family stressed that education was a priority and encouraged him to study Dentistry.

(He also has a sister practicing Dentistry in the Bradenton area!)

He began dental school at the University of Sheffield and graduated in 1980. After practicing Dentistry as an Associate Dentist for four years, he began his own solo practice in the U.K.

During this time, he was blessed to meet his future wife, Dr. Kanchan Parasher. Dr. Kanchan Parasher is a family practice Physician in the Carrollwood area for the last 20 years. They were further blessed to now have two grown children, Arjun, 27, and Nageena, 23. Both children are recent graduates from the University of Miami and are pursuing their own careers.

Dr. Parasher started his dental practice in the Carrollwood area in 1990. After being in the same area for so long, he has been rewarded with helping people in the community and has literally watched many children grow-up. He genuinely cares about all his patients, feeling as though he has been “helping friends” each and everyday.

In 2007, he was able to open a second location in the Wesley Chapel area.He has been a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and the West Coast Dental Association. He has also post graduate education certifications for Implant Dentistry, Orthodontics, and Orthopedics. He is also an Invisalign Certified Dentist.

He has been named as one of America’s Top Dentists for 2007-2011 and has received 2012 Florida Best Doctors & Dentist Award.

Dr. Parasher (Barry) is truly a unique person and Dentist. He is compassionate and has a wonderful sense of humor. Outside the office, he enjoys a healthy mix of sports, tennis,

traveling and spending time with his family.

At Dr. Parasher’s office’s, you will be treated with kindness, respect and understanding. No one likes to go to the Dentist, but our goal is to guarantee your visit will be the best DENTAL experience possible! There is a reason why he’s called A Caring Dentist.

We encourage you to visit our website and learn more about our office at www.caring-dentist.com.

Dr. Parasher’s office is located at 2641 Windguard circle, Ste. 101 in Wesley chapel. or you can call 813-907-3333 for an appointment.

I am sure you all are concerned about the property at 1323 Baythorn Drive, which burned down on November 27, 2011. The property has been condemned and the fire has been classified as arson.

I have contacted various County Departments and expressed our concerns for the safety of our residents. As a last resort, I communicated with our County Commissioner, Pat Mulieri, to obtain a status and was advised that the County must now perform asbestos surveys (and abatement work if necessary) before they can demolish anything.

This property has been sent out for the asbes-tos survey. If the structure contains asbestos (which I doubt it will) abatement quotes will have to be obtained, purchase orders initiated, and abatement work completed before demoli-tion can happen.

Depending on what is found via the survey, the process could take a minimum of two more months. If the survey reveals that the structure is asbestos free, demolition can be ordered right away (hopefully that will be the case here).

It should be noted that once demolished it is unlikely that the property will be rebuilt anytime in the foreseeable future. Neither the owner nor the mortgage company has responded to correspondence from the CDD’s attorney or County Code enforcement.

Be patient, the process leading to demolition has finally begun. Please attend the CDD meetings for further updates as they become available.

Meadow Pointe Bowling League is coming back to the community. It is an activity that is setup to allow residents to come together and enjoy each other’s company, while competing through a fun social activity. Whether you have never rolled a ball before or consistently score 300, this league is a fit for all levels. I am posting this in an effort to gauge interest within the community; if you have friends that live outside of Meadow Pointe they are also welcome. As I ascertain the level of interest in this activity, I will iron out the finer details of the league. Please give us a call at the clubhouse 813-991-5016, ask for David Starkey, or if unavailable please leave your contact information and I will contact you as soon as possible. You can also email me at [email protected].

New Tampa Pediatric Dentalbegan serving children inthe New Tampa and Pasco

County areas just about one year ago;however, the practice has been serving children since 2006.

The owner, Dr. , or, “Dr. B,” as he is more commonly known by patients and par-ents, carried over the care for patients in the office previously provided by pediatric dentist, Dr. Anna Seo. Dr. Bezerra, origi-nally from Brazil, and fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, prides himself in providing dental visits that are fun and educational for both the parents and the children.

Graduation from the UCLA School of Dentistry in June of 2005 was followed shortly thereafter by Dr. Bezerra’s accep-tance into Nova Southeastern University’s College of Dentistry in order to attain his Pediatric Specialty degree, which he graduated with in June of 2007. Im-mediately after graduating as a pediatric dentist, Dr. Bezerra worked for one of the largest, most prestigious pediatric dental groups in Arizona for three years.

Becoming a pediatric dentist was what Dr. Bezerra had dreamed of since his third year at UCLA when he attended a six month dental program where he worked with children. Dr. Bezerra has a genuine, innate love for children, since he grew up with nine brothers and sisters, and then started a family of his own, with his wife Lilyan.

Interacting with parents and offering his professional knowledge for their questions and concerns is a common contribution by Dr. Bezerra, as preventive dental care for children requires the parents to be well informed about essential diet and home care. Since fifty-three percent of children that have not been to the dentist by age 3 have tooth decay by age 5, Dr. Bezerra, along with the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend a child’s first dental visit to be right around their first birthday.

You may ask, “Why so young?” Well,by establishing a dental home for your child at a young age, the pediatric dentist can help guide parents in making correct choices in diet and oral hygiene habits at home. This helps to create an ideally

healthy oral health for your child, and also launches a guide to follow for both parent and child which can essentially last a lifetime.

Dr. Bezerra states, “One of my goals is to not blame par-ents, or not to make them feel uneasy about their parenting choices. Since I have six chil-dren of my own, I understand what it’s like to be a parent and go through the different scenarios with children when providing care for them in th home.” Along with home care and diet information, there are some concepts that parents have about bottle feeding, sippy cup usage, and pacifiers that may be incorrect, since those concepts have, in essence, been passed down through several generations. Dr. Bezerra enjoys taking the time to explain the risk of severe childhood caries with all parents so that they are well informed. When parents know about how they can take small steps at home which can help their child’s overall dental health, the parents can then reap the long-term benefits from

those good choices. Ultimately, “There is a genuine gratification in a child’s eyes when I perform treatment for them. An immediate reward is received, not just by the patient, but also by their parents, and also by me. When the child feels accomplished, that feeling goes well beyond just the child; the parents and the siblings are able to share and enjoy their sense of success, too.”

For appointments please callDr. Bezerra’s office at 813-991-5300, Seven oaks Professional Park, 2242 Ashley oaks circle, Wesley chapel.

POND ALGAE MANAGEMENTThe ponds are at a very low stage lately because of the rain shortage. With this comes algae blooms. Meadow Pointe III has always taken an aggressive stance on the management of the algae and ponds.

Excessive algae growth normally occurs where people live. Why? Algae is fed by nutrients produced by the needs of people where they live. Residents and lawn maintenance companies are fertilizing the lawns, make sure you are using a slow release nitrogen. The fertilizer will eventually run downhill into the ponds and algae will feed off of the nitrogen and fertilizer. Algae comes in many dynamic colors, white, blue, red, and many shades of green. Just as there are different algaecides for the different genus of algae, there are differing application techniques required for different types of algae. Generally treatments are more effective on clear warm days with little wind or water flow. Adjustments are made on site to address the set of circumstances and types of algae encountered.Management of algae and other plants utilizing excessive nutrient is necessary throughout the state of Florida. Very few Florida lakes are low in nutrient requiring little to no management. Any

body of water that combines high nutrient loading with sunlight can expect algae bloom issues and the need for management of it.

MEADOW POINTE III POOL ADA APPROVED

Meadow Pointe III has been diligently working on getting its playground and pool ADA certified. The playground has 12 inches of new ADA approved

mulch through the entire playground, not just the fall zones.

As you can see, by the photo above, a chair lift has been installed and is ADA approved as well. Please come out and enjoy the Meadow Pointe III facilities. v

w C a a s P o r t sThe Rios family moved to Wesley Chapel in April of 2003. Leah began her cheerleading career at the Wesley Chapel Cowboys that season. She cheered for the Cowboys for six years before trying out for the high school team. Leah tried out and made the middle school team but chose to stay with the Cowboys so she could continue to work with her coach Dawn Wetherby. Freshman year, Leah made the Junior Varsity team and was the only freshman to make the competition squad.

For the last three years Leah has been on the Varsity team and served as Captain in her final year. Dawn Wetherby, who has been Leah’s coach for all but 2 years of her career, says that Leah is one of the hardest working cheerleaders she has ever met. Including this scholarship, Leah has had many cheerleading accomplishments including the following:

• Selected to participate All American Cheer and Dance Pro Bowl Scholarship Invitational 2010,

• Pasco County All Conference Cheer Team - Junior Year 2011 and Senior Year 2012

• Selected and Participated Cheer Hawaii USA Summer Camp Invitational 2011 and selected again for the Summer 2012.

• Selected UCA All American - London, England 2012

• Selected to try out for UCA Staff member

The Cowboys Cheerleading is very proud to have had such a wonderful person as part of their organization and they wish Leah the best of luck in all of her future endeavors!! Cheers to Leah Rios! v

W ith the rising cost of college tuition many parents dream that

their child will excel in a sport or academics where they will be able to obtain a scholarship to help offset the costs. One Wesley Chapel

family in a sport that is not widely recognized as a sport realized that dream: Cheerleading. Leah Rios will be attending Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri this coming Fall Semester.

How do I even begin to tell our story? It’s a story of hope and despair, a story of

joy and pain and a story of uncon-ditional love and support. My name is John Holcomb and I have been married to my amazing and beauti-ful wife Alissa for 8 years now. We always wanted to start a family and about 4 years ago we started trying to have children. We also talked about adoption and how we would love to adopt one day, but both figured we would have biological children first.

Well after years filled with not get-ting pregnant, miscarriages and a failed adoption we took a vacation and talked about what direction we wanted our family to go. We prayed and talked to several close family members and friends. Well be careful

what you pray for and ask other people to pray for! The day after we got back from our vacation, Alissa got a call from the agency we had been working with the last couple years. They wanted to know if we were interested in pursuing a little 5 year old boy and 4 year old girl; a brother and sister. We talked and prayed about it and 2 weeks later met our future children for the first time. Six weeks later Isaac Matthew Holcomb and Aliah (pronounced A-lee-uh) Grace Holcomb moved into our home.

We are almost 5 months into this newly formed family and while there definitely have been some grow-ing pains for everyone, we rest easy knowing that from the moment they were conceived, God knew that they would be 2 precious gifts for us to raise and love as our own. And that is what we focus on when the times are hard. These two kids are so awesome, so full of life. We are blessed to be able to have them. Just look at those smiles! So that is why this Father’s Day will always be one of my greatest. Remember when I said be careful what you pray for? A week after Isaac and Aliah moved in we found out we are pregnant. Alissa gives birth to our second son mid August. Isaac and Aliah are very excited to be able to welcome a baby brother to their family. But Aliah now wants a baby sister too. Stay tuned.... v

DOUBLE BRANCH ELEMENTARY

PEGGY LEWIS’ SCHOOL CELEBRATION FOR HER RETIREMENT

On May 9th, the staff and students at Double Branch Elementary School shared their love for Mrs. Lewis and recognized her retirement from educa-tion after 44 years of service with a celebration. The students and staff sang songs and made banners to acknowledge all she has done for them over the years.

At the end of the celebration, Mrs. Lewis offered a heart felt thank you to everyone for the surprise celebration and for making her job as principal of Double Branch Elementary School so rewarding.

Mrs. Lewis was presented a pony with a plaque that states her years as first principal at Double Branch Elementary School. It will always be a reminder of her dedication to the school.

STUDENT RECOGNITIONWe congratulate Michael A. Cajigas, a Class of 2011-2012 graduating Senior. Michael is the first student at the Ranch to earn the IC3, A+, Network+, and

Security+ computer industry certifica-tions. He has been a member of our IT Academy here at WRHS since 9th grade, where he has taken elective IT related courses and completing the Network Infrastructure career program. Now, as he graduates and moves on to college, he takes with him many of the computer skills employers are looking for in today’s competitive IT career market. He is ready for the many chal-lenges students face after graduation.

Aaron M. Silcott, Charles Bourne, and Michael A. Tauber, just passed their Network+ certifications. They now hold IC3, A+, and Network+.Congratula-tions to both for such a great job. Next year they will be going for their Secu-rity+ certification in their Networking 3 class, just like MichaelCajigas did this year.

FBLAOne of our fabulous future business leaders won the internship at our State Leadership Conference in Orlando April 27- May 1, with Cybis Production, Inc. He has been given the opportunity to be part of the produc-tion staff that produces the conference event. The winner is: Paul Baraldi. He is also competing in the “Banking and Financial Systems” Team.

DRIVER ED SUMMER PROGRAMDriver Education will be offered this summer at Wiregrass Ranch High School. The course will span through 10 days from June 18th – July 3rd. The course will provide approximately 30 hours of classroom instruction and the remaining time will be hands-on driv-ing experience and practice. This course does not provide high school credit but a certificate of completion will be awarded when the class is successfully passed.

Buses are available through most of the coursework. Buses will pickstudents up in the early morning and will be available in the afternoon. However, we expect the class times to run later than a normal ESY (Summer School) day due to the road skills schedule, so we require that an evening ride is available every day for pick-up from school.

The cost of the course is $150. Please make the check out to Moore Mickens. In addition, the course has the follow-ing requirements: Student must have a learner’s permit and have access to a ride to and from Wiregrass Ranch for the above-mentioned schedule.

This is a great course for anyone trying to improve his or her drivingskills in preparation for the road test. There are only 15 slots available forthis course. It will be first come, first served as we expect this class to fill up quickly.

For more information or if you have any questions, please contact Mr. Finkel at [email protected] or call at 813-346-6000.
