Rake up a pile of healthy habits to help you live a more rewarding life The 2016 health risk assessment program is coming to an end. Congratulations to everyone who stuck with the program the entire year and are feeling healthier. If you're a 2016 HRA participant, you must complete the 2017 biometric screening as the last step before you can receive your cash incentive.

Participate in the 2017 Health Risk Assessment

The HRA is a year-long program that will help you lead a healthier lifestyle. If you missed out in 2016, here’s your opportunity to participate in the 2017 health risk assessment program. The first two steps need to be completed in 2016.

Step 1: Complete the 2016 Biometric Screening

To enroll in the HRA program for 2017, you need to undergo the biometric screening with our health partners from UTMB. The screening is a mini-physical, which will be performed by UTMB staff: they will draw blood and record your height, weight and blood pressure.

The Galveston screenings will take place the week of Nov. 7 in the Wellness Center, and the League City screenings will take place the week of Nov. 14 in the hotel Oasis Room. Eight slots will be available every 10 minutes from 7:30-9:30 a.m. To sign up, use the Galveston/League City Wellness Activities team site. Due to blood work, you’ll need to fast from midnight the night prior to your screening.

Step 2: Answer the Questionnaire You must finish the 62-question online health screening by Dec. 1, 2016. This information is strictly confidential: the data gathered from you will be put onto a secure password-protected portal that only you will be able to access. You can complete the questionnaire now, but leave the biometric data questions blank (it will be filled in after your screening). The biometric screening and questionnaire are intended to identify past, current and potential medical problems. After the data is compiled, you'll receive your personalized Healthy Lifestyle Profile.

See Connect for the other steps you’ll need to complete in 2017 to receive the incentive, and more information on the health risk assessment.

The change in season brings an opportunity to reset, create new habits and get into a healthy routine. Let’s fall back into health!

Empathy and compassion are often confused with sympathy. To sympathize is to feel sorry for someone else’s pain.

Empathy takes things a little deeper – it’s the ability to feel someone else’s pain. If you put yourself in another’s shoes it helps you understand the perspectives, needs and intentions of others. Compassion, which builds upon empathy, translates that feeling into action.

Today we begin our annual United Way Campaign. Choose to dive deeper, past sympathy, to the depths of empathy and compassion, and give more.

Give more:

There are a couple different ways to contribute to United Way through our paperless pledge form:

1. Automated deduction. You choose the amount and it’s divided over 24 pay periods. 2. One-time contribution. Go to your local United Way site to donate.

Give $10 per pay period: • Entered into a drawing for a $30 voucher to the company store • Total of 10 winners
