LCAP Goal 1: Implementation of CCSS to increase student

achievement in Math, English, Science, and Literacy

• Conducted Leadership meeting and discussed the importance

of CFA’s and upcoming testing. We also talked about staff movements, upcoming master schedule, and pathway classes.

• Met with the Araceli Jara regarding placement for incoming 9th grade students and SB 359. She showed me the rationale of the requirements below using our existing 9th grade students. We discussed some future opportunities and how this matrix may need revision upon upcoming 9th grade classes and exposures to CCSS.

• Conducted classroom visitations to all English classrooms and

all new staff members. All observations were recorded using our new Google Docs observations form.

• I was a judge for the Ag Academy Students “pitching” their business ideas for their BC Leadership class taught by Mrs. Roobie Richards. The students and Mrs. Richards narrowed the business ideas down to three good opportunities. Ms. Soldati and I were the deciding factor as to which business idea won and will be implemented for an SAE project. The winning team will begin a donation center for foods and clothes and the Ag Academy class will be running the business as well as delivery necessary products to needy community members.

LCAP Goal 2: Increase proficiency of ELD students and give

access to the Core subjects • This week’s students are working on their reading component

for reclassification. Students were utilizing our new Computers on Wheels within their classrooms.

• My ELD teachers are working diligently to push for re-classifications by the end of the year.

LCAP Goal 3: Create welcoming learning environments for

students • Met with Michael Doria about changes to the campus

movement for next school year. We also discussed some of the clean up projects that need to take place this summer.

• Held a follow-up meeting with Ms. Soldati about her conference at Carpenteria High School and the summer training sessions. We also discussed CTE credentialing and some changing of class names for next year. She contacted LAUSD to discuss CTE credentialing requirements and processes with her contact person.

• Spring week: o Students, teachers, and adminstrators have had a great

time with spring week. Below was a Yearbook Fundraiser that too place that paired a students against an adult. The party that raised the most money got to smash a shaving cream pie in the face of the other party. I think we had a 50-50 split in student/adult getting pied!

• Some of the adults that were pied: Mr. Derrick, Mr. Aweeka, Ms. Garza, Mr. D. Gatlin, Mrs. S. Gatlin.

• Previous to the pie contest above we conducted a Black Light

rally for Battel of the Sexes week! We had boys on one side and girls on the other. I had a discussion with the student body about being respectful and not making a mess at this rally. The rally was a success and the Girls won!

LCAP Goal 4: Building community partnerships with parents to increase student success

• What an amazing accomplishment for our community and

school. The scoreboard is almost complete and ready to use for our end of March games. Thanks to Sandy Hannah, Ambelina Garcia-Duran, and Justin Derrick for making this happen.

• I just wanted to show the high schools booth at our McFarland

Job Fair. We had great turnout an opportunity to talk to potential candidates for the high school. I would like to give Mr. Hopper and Ambelina Duran-Garcia praise for a fantastic experience which turned into a great opportunity for team building over lunch.

• I attended the CCPT2 meeting at KCCD last Friday. Some of the

major conversations were focused on finding teachers that qualify for a CTE Credential and are willing to teach these classes, conducting these meetings in the summer, and AB288 regarding both campuses being able to claim ADA based on the ruling.

• Kern Country Student Leadership met on Monday with our students. It is so great to see students learning from community members necessary skills and critical thinking taking place at the typical work place.

• Conducted my School Site Council meeting and covered necessary school events.

• I received a resume of a gentleman regarding our Logistics Pathway and teaching at McFarland High School. My administrative team conducted a phone interview as this gentlemen lives in Los Angeles and in the profession that we are seeking. He is definetly a string candidate for out new Business Logistics position. He would also qualify for a CTE Credential as well as being an adjunct professor for Porterville College for all dual enrollment classes.

• Spoke with DJ Mowery of Channel 23 regarding the WeatherBug Program for schools. We talked about the benefit of the program across a variety of curriculums. He provided me a quote for getting this type of program started at MHS. I spoke to Mrs. Valerie Garcia about this program and how I would use the information between Science, Math, and Social Science classes. We will talk after school break about finacing thisprogram. This will also give us local recognition during the airing of the local news consistently.
