February 2017 MAY WE BE AN INSTRUMENT IN CONCERT WITH GOD’S WILL Welcome Jr. Glee!! Let’s welcome our Jr. Glee from 2 nd and 3 rd grades this month! And, welcome to the sixth edition of the St. Rose of Lima Glee News Notes!! We’re heading into our busy season for Glee, so this newsletter will be key in communicating upcoming performance dates, requests for parent volunteers and chaperones, and other volunteer opportunities. Dates to Remember – FEBRUARY Wed, 2/8 Practice 3-4:30pm Thurs, 2/9 Practice 3-4:30pm Tues, 2/14 University of San Diego at 12pm – Diocese performance (5998 Alcala Park SD 92110) Wed, 2/15 Practice 3-4:30pm Wed, 2/15 Parent Meeting at 6pm Thurs, 2/16 Practice 3-4:30pm Wed, 2/22 Practice 3-4:30pm Thurs, 2/23 Practice 3-4:30pm Upcoming Competition March 18th Glee will be registering for the Forum Festival of Music competition in Anaheim. But, we need a solid commitment from Glee members and parents before we register. There is a significant registration fee associated with this competition and we don’t want kids dropping out after the fee has been paid. New App for Parents - PodKeeper All parents should have received an email invite to use the app, PodKeeper. Please register and begin using!! I have sent invitations for all Glee rehearsals and upcoming performances through the end of the year. I would like you to RSVP for each invite so that I have an accurate attendance number in advance. PodKeeper also allows for file sharing, discussion forums, and list tracking! Take a look at what’s already there and don’t be afraid to start discussions with the group. IMPORTANT: Performance Pictures & Videos Parents – I need your help!! I need a volunteer to compile performance pictures and videos of all of Glee’s performances from this schoolyear and create a montage. The montage will be shown at our Finale performance in June! It’s a great way to showcase how much the kids have grown over the year! Please share what you have! Feel free to send to me or contact Vicki Macedo (Alexandra De Lagrave’s mom) directly and she can assist. THANK YOU! Jr. Glee (2 nd & 3 rd Graders) Rehearsals will be every Wednesday, for approximately 30 minutes after school, with Ms. Glenda. Fundraising, fundraising, FUNDRAISING!!! We really need some parent volunteers to take the lead on fundraising activities for Glee. We were unable to do the Valentine’s day candy gram, but are considering other options. More ideas and fundraising events are needed!! In the past, Glee has done a bake sale after Sunday masses. Do we want to do that again? We are open to other great ideas – and we need active parent involvement to accomplish our fundraising goals!! One parent does not have to take this on. If you want to take on a fundraiser as a pair or team, that works too. Speak to me directly if you can assist. Parent Meeting – February 15 th It’s vital that I meet with all Glee parents on Wednesday, February 15 th . Items on the agenda include: competition in March, fundraising, trip to Knott’s in May, and parent Final performance teams/leads.
