every child, one voice®
My daffodils are just starting to open which means that spring has finally arrived! This also heralds some of our most exciting events of the school year. Be sure to check your child’s back-packs regularly for information on up-coming events. First up, Staff Appreciation Week! Fly-ers have already gone home detailing the fun we have in store for the incom-parable Erwin Valley staff members. Our children benefit dramatically from the hard work and dedication of each and every staff member. Please help show your appreciation by participat-ing in this year’s event. Once more, we owe our thanks to Liz Reppert who is coordinating the week for us again this year. Get ready for Spring Fling! This year’s adventure is our very own Island Para-dise! I can’t wait to see all of the fan-tastic Bountiful Baskets the classes
have put together. A big round of ap-plause to Becky Smith, Shannon McIntosh, all of the class basket coor-dinators, and everyone who helps put this together! It takes many hours of hard work to get everything ready. May also brings our Buy One Get One Free Book Fair. It will be held in the gym on Tuesday, May 19th from 3-8pm. Please come out to support us and get some great deals on summer reading for your children! Please join us for our next PTA meet-ing on Tuesday May 12th at 7 pm. We will be electing new officers and, as always, will have snacks and childcare available. I hope to see you there! Karie Langevin EV PTA President [email protected]

We are off to a very busy start to spring. It seemed as though this past winter would never end! With our State Assess-ments behind us we can contin-ue to focus our efforts at pro-gressing through our curricu-lum. It is exciting to see how many gains our students are making. We have a very busy season of field trips beginning!
The students are always excited to go and explore areas in our community. Perhaps your whole family could follow up these adventures with one of your own to The Rockwell Museum, CMOG, Tanglewood Nature Center or Spencercrest Nature Center!
This is a very busy time of year so please be sure your child is getting a good night rest. If your child is going to be late or absent please let the office know so that you do not get the pesky automated phone call.
We are once again able to get out for recess dai-ly. Please make sure your child is dressed ap-propriately to play! Closed toe shoes and a jacket for most days will be needed.
Enjoy the spring weather. The end of the year will be here before we know it.

Principal’s Message
Bountiful Baskets
THANK YOU to all the WONDERFUL parents who have vol-unteered to be room coordinators for their child’s classroom. The teachers and students have been very busy selecting crea-tive themes and you will be notified by a room coordinator about items that can be sent into your classroom to help fill up the baskets. For those of you who don’t already know, here’s how it works. Each class decides a theme and creates a basket (container) filled with donated items related to that theme. The PTA sells vouchers to put in box by the basket you would most like to win. At the Spring Fling, a voucher is drawn from each box to determine the winner of each basket. The completed baskets will be on display from May 4th-9th, the day of the Spring Fling. You will have the opportunity to purchase vouchers ($1.00 per voucher or for a limited time 15 tickets for $10.00) beginning May 4th. The final drawing will be held at the Spring Fling. You do not need to be present to win. If you have any questions please contact Shannon McIntosh at 377-5323 ([email protected]).
