The Bedford County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present our

second annual Women in Business Conference. We are glad to host our

Chamber members as well as friends and colleagues from around the

region and across the state to this special event at the Omni Bedford

Springs Resort & Spa.

Our conference committee has spent many months assembling an im-

pressive line-up of featured speakers and break-out presenters with a di-

verse array of skills and experiences. Thank you to Lori Copley, Juli Dull,

Women’s Health: Be Empowered, Know the Facts: David Arbutina, M.D., FACS Buchanan Room Genetics, diet, exercise, living habits: all contribute to our health and our chances of being diagnosed with breast cancer and other illnesses and disorders. One of the nation’s leading medical professionals in the field of breast cancer shares his knowledge and expertise about the disease, as well as the significant steps we can take to be our best and most healthy selves.

Dr. Arbutina serves as Medical Director of the Breast Cancer Women’s Health Institute, and is a board certified general

surgeon with focused expertise in breast cancer surgery. He is an expert, educator, and leader in surgery who since 1988

has dedicated his career to the treatment of breast cancer. During his career, Dr. Arbutina has personally treated and

cared for well over 1,000 breast cancer patients. He has also treated thousands of women with benign breast conditions

and is known for his expertise in distinguishing between benign and cancerous breast disease. Dr. Arbutina is a distin-

guished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

He has personally been the lead investigator in breast cancer research protocols. Dr. Arbutina is currently President of

the Keystone Chapter of the American College of Surgeons where over the past five years he has directed three educa-

tional programs for the region’s surgeons. He is also governor of the American College of Surgeons and as such, helps

forge policies to promote safe and economical surgical care across the nation.

agement, Mrs. Laychur served as the Chief Investment Officer for Omega Bank Wealth Management. Mrs. Laychur is a

graduate of College of William and Mary with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. In 1992 she completed

the Chartered Financial Analyst program was awarded the C.F.A. Charter in September of that year. She is a member

of the CFA Institute and the Baltimore Analyst Society. Renee has over 25 years of diversified financial services experi-

ence including asset management, trust services, and financial and retirement planning. Her work experience ranges

from community banks to large financial institutions. Currently she serves as the Chair of F.N.B. Investment Advisors,

Jeff Boldizar is a senior consultant for the Small Business Development Center at St. Francis University, serving

Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Somerset, Huntingdon and Fulton Counties. The Pennsylvania Small Business Development

Centers (SBDC) provide education and no-cost consulting services to entrepreneurs and small business owners. The

SBDC’s one-on-one management consulting emphasizes education and guidance in finding practical solutions to busi-

ness problems. Consulting is confidential and provided at no-charge by a staff of skilled professionals.

As Vice President of Bedford County Development Association (BCDA) Terri Brumbaugh is responsible for developing

projects and grants, and maintaining contacts with local, state and federal economic development programs. She brings

a great deal of economic development experience to this position. For nearly 15 years she served in the business-

lending program at Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission in Altoona, PA. There she assisted

many businesses fulfill the realization of their projects. BCDA oversees three (3) business parks and operates the Hess

Business Center (HBC). The HBC houses several businesses as well as the BCDA office. BCDA achievements include

the recruitment of a Wal Mart food distribution center (which wins national productivity awards annually), the re-

opening of the Bedford Springs Resort, the recruitment of the first east coast REI distribution center, the creation of an

ag-biotech business cluster which features Lampire Biological Laboratories, the continued support and development of

world-class manufacturers which include: B.C. Stone, CaptiveAire, Inc, JLG, Kennametal, L.B. Foster, MDL Manufac-

Rachel Howsare, E-RYT is the studio owner and director of teacher trainings for Yoga Bedford. Following her 5-year teacher

training through YogaFit, she continues to learn every day from the students who have attended her classes over the last twelve

years. Her teaching style is eclectic—borrowing tools and techniques from many different style and teachers. Rachel is especially

gifted at creating smooth, well-sequenced, flowing classes; providing detailed verbal cueing with lots of options for modifications;

offering down-to-earth, practical tips for posture and meditation practice. Rachel is passionate about sharing yoga with anyone who

is open and ready to learn, making yoga accessible, adaptable and enjoyable for all who are interested, and creating and protecting

a sacred space for practice that is safe and comfortable for all who enter it.

Pastry Chef, Jayne Sechoka began her culinary education in her grandmother’s kitchen when she was just learning to walk. Her

parents owned the Stagecoach Inn in Meyersdale, which allowed her to continue her education. For 13 years, Sechoka worked in the

front of the house, and then decided to go to culinary school. During the wonderful opportunity to intern at Canyon Ranch, an ex-

clusive health and fitness club in Tuscon, AZ, Jayne did extensive recipe research and development, and was published in their cook-

book. After helping her father open his restaurant in Somerset, she started a bakery business “in her spare time.”: When she was

diagnosed as gluten-intolerant, she was crushed, but continued to bake and develop gluten free options. Love brought her to Everett,

and to work at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort, where her parents spent the first night of their honeymoon. Jayne believes you have

to love what you do to be successful, and she has found great success in Bedford!

of Law. After several years with the Blair County District Attorney’s Office, Attorney Hershey came home to Bedford County and

became the First Assistant District Attorney. She is admitted to practice in both State and Federal Court. In 2012, Attorney Hershey

entered into private practice and opened the Law Office of Brandi Hershey, located in Bedford, Pennsylvania. Attorney Hershey

handles a broad array of cases including, wills, estates, real estate, guardianships, adoptions, corporate and business law, juvenile

matters, arbitrations and municipal law. Attorney Hershey is active in the Community, currently serving as President of the Bedford

County Bar Association after holding numerous other offices in that organization. She is a member of the Bedford Sunrise Rotary

Club and the Bedford Lions Club. She is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Bedford County. Attorney Hershey serves as a Trustee on

the Bedford Heritage Trust and is a past Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors for Camp Cadet of Bedford County. She

and her husband Brad are the parents of two young children, Alexis and David.
