Hello Otters!
Great Job, you
have all pulled through the
month of May with multiple
SAT Testing, endless hours of
studying, and hair-pulling
pressure all while sacrificing
your early mornings to ded-
icate yourself to communi-
ty service. It makes me very
proud to work with La Quin-
ta Key Club members and
seeing your dedication
inspires me and those
around you to continue to
give back to community no
matter what.
We have accom-
plished so much together

MADD walk was great
because we got to
honor lives and raise
awareness and have
fun and eat with key
clubbers.”

On May 5th, 23 key club
members woke up bright
and early to head down to
UC Irvine University to vol-
unteer at the MS Walk, a
walk to spread awareness
and support for Multiple
Sclerosis. Volunteers re-
ceived wonderful bright
orange shirts and started
the day by cheering on
walkers with our legendary
key club spirit! We received
orange and yellow pom
poms, noise-makers, and
little mega phones and let
our spirit unleash. Then
members got a chance to
help out with a Soup Planta-
tion booth, giving free
muffins and cookies to
walkers. Finally, members
cleaned up dog bowls, take
down chairs, posters, card-
board boxes, trash, signs,
tables, cleaned tables, and
closed for the day. What a
day!
This month’s DCM was held at Huntington
Beach after the Walk like MADD event. D4N
members got their toes sandy and comfortable
while getting to know their new divisional
board! LQ Key Club brought 20 members and
participated in ice-breakers after the DCM ,
making new friends from Rancho and Bolsa
and other schools! We were excited to hear
upcoming news about new Division T-shirts!
schools from our divi-
sion and our LQ Ki-
wins, we passed out
waters and kept up the
walking spirit. Mem-
bers also participated
in cleaning up after the
event was over, folding
tables, going on trash
duty, folding tables,
and packing up.
On May 12th, 20 members
arrived at Huntington Beach to
volunteer at the MADD walk,
Mothers Against Drunk Driv-
ing organization. We started
off with a couple ice-breakers
with our LQ Kiwins and got to
work by moving tables and
cheering for the Walkers!
Members pumped up spirit
with fun cheers and music..

On May 20th, 31 key club
members met again at
Huntington beach to give
a hand at HB’s annual
Duck-a-thon, a fundraising
festival for HB clinics. Our
first shift was in charge of
Children’s center, where
members manned festival
games, jumpers, and a
duck-decorating center.
We even got to decorate
our own rubber ducky ! Members
helped clean brushes, replace glue,
played with kids, and helped with
different booths at the festival. It
was a refreshing day at the beach
with a lot of fun in the sun!
Peter Ly, a junior, was awarded the May/April Member of the
Month! He received a crowning by our president, a movie ticket,
and an award for his great Key Club character, spirit, and enthusi-
asm. Peter has accumulated 13 hours for April and 19 hours for
May. “He exhibited great leadership and his enthusiasm for ser-
vice truly inspires me and those around him. He has this conta-
gious laugh and smile that always keeps the day going.”-Mindy Vo
officers and a couple of members
gathered at the front of Albertsons
with massive trays of beautiful cup-
cakes, brownies, and cookies that
would put Sprinkles to shame. We
made wonderful posters and had
wonderful customers! After 9
hours dedicated to sweets, we
successfully made 230$! We
reached our fundraising goal for the
month and are currently in another
candy fundraiser for our club,
DCON, and PTP!
If there is another thing LQ Key
knows better than service, it is
baking cupcakes. On May 19th, our
