Fund for Flowers

We would like to beautify our new church with flowers for special days (ie: Jesus, feasts of the BVM, Joseph, etc). If you would like to donate towards feast day flowers, please contact Joyce Rutkowski at [email protected] or place your donation in an envelope marked “Fund for Flowers” and place in the collec-tion basket during Mass at any time throughout the year.

Praying Evening Prayer

The church asks its clergy and religious for their commitment to pray the Liturgy of the Hours daily for all its members. A commitment that the “Deacons Three” of Saint Mary’s of Sorrows have chosen to do in community for Evening Prayer once a month on the second Tuesday of the month in the New Church prior to reposing Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Deacon Dave, Deacon Jeff and Deacon Nick are inviting all parishioners to join them in their praying Evening Prayer which will be done at 6:45 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each Month in the New Church. The next opportunity will be on Tuesday, July 13th, at 6:45 p.m. Prayer Booklets will be available in the New Church. The “Deacons Three” look forward to your joining them in our praying Evening Prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours. Pope Francis’ Prayer Intentions for July 2021:

Universal Intention: Social Friendship We pray that, in social, economic and political situations of con-flict, we may be courageous and passionate architects of dialogue and friendship.

Breakthrough

There’s hope even on stormy days. You will need: Bible, see-through glass or plastic containers filled with water, foaming shaving cream, blue and yellow food coloring (our classes did this experiment earlier this year). Sometimes life seems cloudy. Squirt a layer of shaving cream over the water in the glass con-tainers. Tell about a time you felt sad or discouraged. As each child shares, have him or her add some drops of food coloring over the “clouds” of shaving cream. It’s okay to feel sad. But when we do, God wants us to be encouraged. Read Isaiah 41:10 and Joshua 1:9. Have kids keep an eye on the clouds and food coloring. The food coloring will break through the shaving cream, creating streaks of color in the water. What did you like about this experiment? How can hard times turn into something good? Read Romans 8:28. What are ways you can trust God in hard times?

PARISH OUTREACH MINISTRY

St. Mary’s Samaritan Fund

St. Mary of Sorrows Samaritan Fund Program provides funding to programs that assist individuals and families struggling to meet basic needs for housing, utilities, and medical costs. Our goal is to assist low-income families through referral to these established local programs and services to help them move toward greater financial independence. You can help by continuing to pray for those in need. Also, please consider making a monetary donation to St. Mary’s Samaritan Fund, so that we can continue responding through prayer and financial assistance.
