1983:Maruti 800 was launched and Ms. Indira Gandhi handed over the keys of 1st Maruti 800 to Mr. Harpal Singh since then Maruti 800 has become the Car of India.

Facts:• 28 years of journey is still continued.

• Maruti Udyog is said to be the Brainchild of Mr. Sanjay Gandhi for production of “people’s car”.

• Maruti Suzuki is the No 1. MNC of India ahead of Nokia and Vodafone in terms of Revenues (Rs. 300 bn).Maruti 800 was a pioneer in Indian automobile industry especially in small car segment.
