Community InvolvementIt has always been important to me to lsquoBe the Changersquo we want to see in the world Thus I have worked tirelessly in my community to implement and model sustainable living and offer up opportunities for others to do the same To list just a few of my volunteer projects

-Inspired the Phinney Neighborhood Association (PNA) to adopt the Living Building Challenge as their primary metric for capital development projects at their 1904 community center The PNA was the first project in Washington State to register for the Living Building Challenge and they have been enjoying enormous success in terms of community support grants and positive publicity In 2006 I was married at the Center and helped raise over $3000 in donations for the PNA

-Actively engaged with the Faculty and Staff of the Montana State School of Architecture in an advisory role to implement stronger connections between alumni and staff and inform the curriculum relative to sustainability I created a mentorship program from graduate students transitioning into professional practice

-Organized a community group of neighbors to implement a $10k Small and Simple Grant from the City of Seattle which led to formation of Seattle City Repair In this role I provided oversight neighbors through grant writing implementation and reporting of grant items such as planting trees creating public gathering spaces street painting and coordinating workshops and lectures about place-making focused on citizen led action
