Squadron Educational Officer


• SEO Kit (SEO page)• Educational Department Manual 1 (EDM1 2003)• USPS Operations Manual (chapter 6)

• Leadership Development Page (OT)• Squadron Job Descriptions (September 2011)

• Rules Page• Bylaws – Squadron, D5, USPS (Article 17)

What to do!• From Squadron Job Descriptions

• Promote boating education to the public and to squadron members

• Review the SEO kit• Schedule ABC3, Advanced Courses and Seminars• Staff courses with course chairs and assistants, as well as

with certified instructors• Insure that all Boating course instructors are certified and

current• Recruit new instructors and proctors• Recognize instructors by submitting merit marks and

Chapman Award Nominations• Remain current with courses, materials and USPS

procedures• Work closely with membership and member retention

committees to recruit new members and retain current members

• Submit required forms on time• Work closely with Squadron Public Relations Officer – • Attend District Conferences, Councils and Events• Support and promote the District 5 Mission Statement

• Squadron Nominations and Appointments– ED-80 SEO and ASEO (NomCom)– OD-2 (Commander)– ED-1 Chair Local Boards – AG, Elect,

Boating

• HQ assigns authorities to your team– ‘Positions’ for the 800 system– Ch/LBs may order materials & schedule
