NUREG-1335, "Individual Plant Examination: Submittal Guidance, Final Report," August 1989 Generic Letter 88-20 (Reference 1) requested each licensee perform an IPE and submit the results to the NRC. In addition, Reference 1 requires that the licensee submit the IPE results within three years of tho issuance of the NRC guidance document (Reference 2). The availability of Reference 2 was published in the Federal Register on September 1, 1989, thus starting the three-year period. Additionally, the generic letter requested each licensee submit its proposed program for completing the IPEf within 60 days from the date of the Federal Reister notice announcing the availability of Reference 2. The response was requested to identify the method and approach to be used for performing the IPE, to describe the method to be used, and to identify milestones and schedules for submitting the results of the 1Pts to the URC. TVA's program is to complete a Level 1 probabilistic risk assessment and containment analysis for Browns Ferry, Watts Bar, and Sequoyah Nuclear Plants satisfying the criteria of Generic Letter 88-20 and NUREG 1335 by September 1, 1992. Previous risk assessment work by TVA will be utilized to complete this work. Enclosure 2 provides a mili(tone schedule for the proposed program.
