Functional Description

The ML-18 is a 3 axes mono-block load sensing, pressure compensated valve. It has the ability to add addition M4-15 -2x valves slices to the ML-18 mono-block. The ML-18 con-trols the volume, direction of oil flow and maintains a constant flow regardless of changing load pressures.

An advantage of the ML-18 is that the starting point for movement of the function always remains the same, i.e., a specified control spool position always has the same meter-ing characteristics. This is accomplished by the compensat-ing spool in each section.

While the main spool is in the neutral position, the Load Sense signal network is vented to tank. When the main spool is biased, the load pressure is directed to the spring end of the pressure compensator spool, the section com-pensator now moves to the open position. Dependent on the pressure drop between the section compensator and the control spool opening, a specific volume now flows to the function. The load signal also simultaneously communi-cates to the shuttle and on to the system compensating device. The system compensating device can be a variable displacement pump system.

Directional valve elements: Pressure compensator

When the main spool is in the neutral position, there is no connection from P to work ports A and B. In this condi-tion, the compensator spool [1] will be modulating to maintain the equiv- alent spring force pressure up to the main spool.

When the main spool [3] is biased to a power position, P-B, A-T, the LS pressure is con-nected to the compensator spool spring chamber. [4] The flow directed out Work Port B will be kept constant even if there is fluctuation in supply pressure P.
