Also by having an artist in the first issue, it will give them more recognition about any upcoming tours, for example. The models used need to look strong and reflect the rock and/or alternative genre. In this case, the first issue will have the main article on alternative music but will include some rock. Photographer: Photographer: Sophie Lyne Technical codes For the photo shoot, there would be long shots and mid shots taken because then it is clear to see who the artist is (mid shots) and it could possibly give an authorative look which most artists would have. As for the angles, it would be more head on but possibly to the side because it is alternative. EP stands for extended play, which is a music term and so the connotations are that the reader is extending their knowledge on rock and alternative music and will therefore be ‘informed & educated’ (Katz) about the latest news and current affairs across a range of music sub-genres within the rock and alternative genre.

Project Description:

By producing a front cover and double page spread, there is then a first look at what the magazine will be like. Also by having an artist in the first issue, it will give them more recognition about any upcoming tours, for example. The models used need to look strong and reflect the rock and/or alternative genre. In this case, the first issue will have the main article on alternative music but will include some rock.

Technical codesFor the photo shoot, there would be long shots and mid shots taken because then it is clear to see who the artist is (mid shots) and it could possibly give an authorative look which most artists would have. As for the angles, it would be more head on but possibly to the side because it is alternative.

LightingFor the front cover, it would be more effective to have a high key lit photo because if it is too dark, not many people are going to look at the magazine. Although on the double page spread, low key lit shots would be included because rock can be quite dark so the photos can reflect this.

Post ProductionI intend to reflect the rock or alternative genre so it’ll keep to the purpose of the magazine because it is a rock and alternative magazine. When using Photoshop, an important tool I will be using is the pen tool so I can integrate text and imagery and so it’ll have that professional layout and look of a music magazine.

EP stands for extended play, which is a music term and so the connotations are that the reader is extending their knowledge on rock and alternative music and will therefore be ‘informed & educated’ (Katz) about the latest news and current affairs across a range of music sub-genres within the rock and alternative genre.

Casting:

People who are similar to the artists above would be suitable for my magazine because they are all well known in the rock genre and their look isn’t clean cut but it isn’t too grunge looking at the same time and as for the alternative look, nothing too glamourous that could link to pop.

Model requirements:

All models should be at least 5’4 or taller and could possibly have an edgy look to reflect the rock and also possibly alternative genre.

Wardrobe and Look:

There’s a possibility that I will use guitars and amps as props because they are used a lot in the rock genre and so you can capture really interesting shots with the artist posing with the guitar. As for clothing, it would be casual so clothing such as jeans and a t-shirt with a jacket and this is because rock does not have a formal dress code and so by wearing this, it’ll reflect it. As well as that the alternative genres do not have a formal dress code.

Hair and Makeup:

For the photo shoot, any male model wouldn’t need any make up but any females would have quite dark eye and possibly lip makeup. As for hair, it should be a little bit messy; also it should have volume instead of it looking flat.
