IntroductionOur Leisure courses are run by enthusiastic tutors at dedicated adult learning centres across the New Forest.
Whether you want to learn new skills, improve your knowledge, keep fit, or take up a new hobby and meet new friends, we will help you achieve your goals. We offer courses as weekly, day and evening classes, one-day workshops and weekend sessions so they fit into your schedule. More details about individual programmes, together with information about fees, applications, payment, enrolment and facilities are on our website. Reduced fees may apply for those on specific benefits.

Refund PolicyClaims for refund of course fees will not normally be considered other than where a course is cancelled by the College. In the case of closure, the College will make every effort to offer an alternative provision but where this is not possible fees will be refunded as follows: 1. Closure of course within the first two weeks – full refund.2. Closure of course after two weeks – refund pro rata.
Where a student has to withdraw from a course for medical reasons consideration will be given to refunding fees on receipt of an explanatory letter. PLEASE NOTE: The College reserves the right to amend or alter information contained in this brochure including course details, fees or course length at any time. Classes may be closed, shortened or combined, dependent on enrolment. The class fees are based on the enrolment of 12 students (excluding day workshops). It may be possible for classes to continue on lower numbers by students paying a pro-rata fee.

The trip will take you and your friends/family down the river Stour, starting at Iford Bridge you will be given a basic boat handling lesson and safety session. You will then progress down the river taking in the fantastic scenery and wild life as the flow of the river helps you along. There is also some time to improve your technique with some fun games as you paddle along. You will stop for lunch at Christchurch Town Quay where you can enjoy your picnic or visit the quays café (food not included in price). After lunch you will paddle through some parts of Christchurch steeped in history, then into Christchurch harbour, an area of outstanding natural beauty and then finally back towards the Outdoor Centre.

09:00-16:30 24-Feb-18 5 days Run over five days this course gives a comprehensive introduction to chart work, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. It is invaluable for learning how to start making decisions on board a yacht or powerboat and also help understand what is going on when others take charge. The course covers basic seamanship and an introduction to navigation and meteorology. A basic knowledge of lights, weather and IRPCS is also included. By the end of the course you should have sufficient knowledge to navigate a yacht or powerboat around familiar waters by day and night.
The day skipper theory course provides the level of theory knowledge required to complete the day skipper practical course and gain an International Certificate of Competence which is required to go boating abroad. Students will need to have plotting instruments in order to complete the course, these can be purchased at the start of the course.
