Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, Welcome to the LAR 2016 15th annual bull sale. As the new year starts, we are very pleased to offer you, our valued customers, several new exciting sire groups to choose from. Our focus on improved quality has taken us down sever-al avenues to accomplish our goal of providing some of the best genetics to be found. We have stepped up our embryo transfer program, thus utilizing some of our very top cows. We have also become very particular in purchasing new herd bulls and one such bull is E&B HARLEY LAR. We purchased this bull from the Benoit bull sale as the top selling bull and he has already proven himself as a great breeding bull. Our friends, the Benoit family, kept a semen interest and used the bull and report one of their top bulls is out of Harley. We were so confident in this bull, we flushed one of our top TC Total daughters to him and a great flush it was. There will be some powerful calves in the sale out of Harley’s first calf crop, one of the very best being out of a young TC Aberdeen daughter that is showing tremendous po-tential. We have also intensified our search for superior sires in our extensive AI program. Nearly every female is synchronized and either bred AI or has an embryo placed. In our intensified search, we attempt to travel the country to actually see individual animals or sire groups before using a new sire in our program. BASIN PAYWEIGHT 1682 is the bull we went with and his first calves at LAR will be a top feature along with the HARLEY calves. Side by side with our efforts to increase quality, we have also made the decision to slowly and cautiously increase our numbers. This decision was based on your acceptance of and confidence in our program and we THANK YOU GREATLY. In order to accomplish our increase in numbers, we have taken on Solomon River Cattle of Stockton as a cooperator herd. My nephew, Greg Beougher, has started his herd in somewhat the same way LAR started. For the past several years, he has purchased some very nice females from some of the top herds in Kansas, along with some good herd bull prospects, including some from LAR. These cattle, for the most part, will be pastured in Gove County, some of which will be just across the road from LAR. We look forward to working with Greg and think this relationship will be beneficial to all, including you, our friends and customers. Taking a slightly different avenue, we will also slowly and cautiously increase our Red Angus numbers. Blake formerly worked for the Red Angus Association and has extensive knowledge and many contacts across America. Blake has taken on the responsibility of all the record keeping, sale book preparation, picture taking, semen testing, ultrasound, and video prep while still maintaining his job duties with Meyer Natural Angus. He also helps when he can with calving, feeding, ET and breeding days plus weaning time. With all these various avenues we have pursued, we hope that upon your inspection of the cattle and data, you will find “IT MAKES SENSE TO INVEST YOUR DOLLARS IN LAR GENETICS AND PROGRAM.” WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU SALE DAY, FEB 19, 2016.

This year’s two year old bull offering may be down in numbers but that is no indication of the quality of the individuals in this year’s lineup. We think that as you evaluate these individuals, you will find a very uniform set of bulls with tremendous natural thickness and muscle shape. Many of these bulls you will see should make outstanding heifer bull candidates. These bulls spent most of the time since late summer running out and getting plenty of exercise. These bulls should be sound footed, physically sound and ready for heavy use. We know that there are many folks who like these age advantaged bulls, and although the numbers may be down this year, we think you will really appreciate the quality.

What a way to start off our 2016 sale. The Confidence sons that have sold through this sale in the past have been received very well because of their confirmation, moderate frame score and guaranteed calving ease. This is another genuine candidate for heifers with a CED of 18 and a BW of -4.3.

Another Confidence son that is a real spitting image of his sire. Moderate framed with a good square hip, coupled with the calving ease makes this a great candidate for your heifer breeding project. CED of 17 and BW of -3.0 and you will be able to rest all night when the heifers start calving.

This is a real attractive son out of the ABS Global sire SAV Brilliance, who is known for producing really attractive and functional cattle. With just a 70 lb actual birth weight this bull can be plugged into your breeding program in any area.

If you are looking for a power bull for the cow herd, here is your candidate. This bull weaned off the cow at almost 725 lbs and had a weaning ratio of 107. These 224 calves have good shape and muscle confirmation to them.

The 844 bull has roamed the pastures at LAR for many years and has produced some very consistent cattle, however, 2015 was the last year we used him. There will be some half-brothers in the yearling division as well.
