5 3 3 Crystallization is a process that separates pure solid in the form of its crystals

from a solution

It is better than simple evaporation because :

1. Some solids decompose or some like sugar may get charred on heating.

2. Some impurities may remain dissolved in the solution even after filtration. On

evaporation, these contaminate the solid.

(b) Argon – Monoatomic , Ozone – Triatomic, Nitrogen – Diatomic, Phosphorous

– Tetra atomic

(c ) Number of moles in 16g of Sulphur (S8) = 16/256= 0.0625

Number of molecules = n x Avogadro’s number = 0.0625 x 6.022 x 1023

(a) In a chemical substance, elements are always present in definite proportion

by mass.

(b) The relative number and kind of atoms are constant in a given compound

(c ) A group of atoms carrying a charge is known as poly atomic ions. Any one

example.

The number of atoms of Na = n x Avogadro’s number

= 100/23 x 6.022 x 1023
