My Brothers,

With Holy Week upon us, unfortunately much of our

energy and thought is occupied with the danger of COVID-19 and its impact on our daily lives. While we

should all take proper precautions, remember that

you belong to the Most High, Jesus Christ. He paid

for you with His precious blood. Do not despair and live without fear. Give all of that worry to God.

Please take advantage of the streamed Holy Masses offered by St. Rose of Lima and others. While different than we are all used to, the

priests, deacons, cantors, and lectors are the same. May I suggest

that you put on your Sunday best and treat it like the real Mass that it

is, all the while longing for the Body and Blood. This inconvenience is not forever, but our Lord Jesus is.

Our Worthy Financial Secretary, Lee Olsen has exercised his skill and patience in the administration of the Novena for Life teleconferences.

well as the daily reminders. The response to the KoC 5803-St. Rose of

Lima, Simi Valley sponsored 8pm dial-ins was inspiring, with 30-40 households calling in, many with 2-4 people. Big thanks to Joe and Lor-

raine Ferrall, Lee and Mary Olsen, Fr. Joe Shea, Lee and Anna Tuner,

George and Janice Gnesda, Joel and Annalise Breummer, Bob and Myr-na Fowler and our two Pro-Life warriors, Leonore Schuetz and Janie

Beach. I also thank all of you who faithfully called in to pray with us to

end abortion.

Speaking of conference calls, we will have the April officer’s meeting by

teleconference and will evaluate its utility for all meetings until this virus is

behind us. Watch your Flocknotes and email for details.

Until we meet again, in writing or in person, allow me to leave you with a

few suggestions:

• Call a Brother Knight or two, just to say “hello”. May I suggest a Knight you may not know. Pick a name off the roster.

• If you can, go on a walk, preferably in a nice setting like on of Simi’s

great parks, hiking trails, or the Arroyo Simi Greenway. • Stay safe! Take advantage of the KoC 5803 food delivery if you can’t

get out.

PRAYER

During this time in our lives, I feel we can never pray enough. I offer you these prayers for the cure of the coronavirus, and health of mind, body and soul.

Prayer during difficult times God of love and mercy, assist me in this time of trouble and anxi-ety. Ease my burdens. Strengthen my faith. Increase my trust and confi-dence in Your compassionate care. Give me the courage I need, dear Lord, to face the difficulties be-fore me, knowing that with Your help, miracles happen and lives are re-stored. I pray for a share in Your healing graces, and ask that You sur-round me with Your comforting goodness, for health in mind and body, and for a heart filled with hope and peace. Amen. Prayer to St.. Joseph To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also. Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities. O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be propitious to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness; and, as once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God’s Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die holy, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven. Amen. Pope Leo XIII’s 1889 encyclical Vivat Jesus, Deacon Terry

A Brother Knight, First

Most of you know me as your Knights of Columbus Field Agent but be-fore that I’m a Brother Knight and as such I wanted to send you a quick note that reflects the posture of the Knights of Columbus and my own commitment to serve you and your family in these unprecedented times. As a framework, I want to employ the five pillars that Supreme Knight Carl Anderson has pointed to as characteristics found in men who, in time of crisis, not only survive but lead. First, we remain rooted in the truth of the faith. We pray for one an-other, for the sick and the dying, and for the Church and world. In this we remain true to Fr. McGivney’s vision of protecting families within the sure tracks of the Catholic faith. Second, the Knights can be counted on to step into the breach. When disasters strike, the Knights are there with prayer and work, supporting first responders, providing shelter and assis-tance to those affected. This time is no different. Working together, we remain united and strong. Third, a Knight stays at his post. I understand that you have concerns about health, finances, job security, savings, retirement, and these have only increased in these days. I am here to help allay those concerns and to answer any questions you may have. We are ready to suffer for the good. It has fallen to us agents and our Supreme Council leader-ship to roll up our sleeves and get to work so we can remain effective as we work remotely and maintain social distance. To that end, we are employing new technology that allows us to meet “virtually,” using a secure video conferencing software. It allows us to see each other, and to share a screen that features forms and other graphics.

Finally, a Knight maintains humble confidence. My commitment to you, our members and fami-lies, remains steady and is built not primarily on my qualifications but on the strength of our Order, which has grown and strengthened over more than 135 years. Our Order is strong and our guar-antees remain in place. As always, I stand ready to help. If you or anyone you know are in need of assistance of any kind dur-ing these trying times, please feel free to contact me at (805) 813-6707. Fraternally yours, Willie Romero FICF

A New Way to Boost Energy to Youthful Levels NAD+ is the hardest working enzyme involved in the body’s energy production, but by 70, we have under a third of what we had as young adults. It is rationed to do only the most necessary functions, and so everything involved in repair and upkeep of our bodies and brains slows dramatically. The good news is that NAD+ levels can be boosted back to youthful levels, and then everything gets easier! We get back the energy to do all the stuff that used to be easy, like moving and feeling strong, like not hurting and feeling exhausted all the time. Literally every function of our body improves, and aging slows down, even seems to reverse. Boosting NAD+ levels to youthful values changes everything for the better. Alive-by Nature.com is at the forefront of the technology to do this. They have a new product line that allows NAD+ lev-els to jump quickly back to 20-yr-old values. They nano-grind NMN or NAD, to near-molecular levels, encase these particles in liposomal coatings that increase cellular absorption by 10 times, mix it in a hydrogel that holds it under the tongue far longer than any method used so far, thus getting far more of the enzyme or its precursor into the bloodstream than ever before, at a far lower cost. Here is the product web page: https://alivebynature.com/lsg-liposomal-sublingual-gel/. My approach is to buy both the LSG NMN (boosts NAD+ primarily in the body) and LSG NAD (primarily boosts NAD+ in the brain). I plan to use the NMN in the morning and the NAD in the evening – a shotgun approach rather than a sniper shot – more likely to get a result I can feel perhaps. I think any of us over 50 ought to give this a try. My personal experience with the older products has been very rewarding, giving me the ability to act half my age, and get away with it with few exceptions. If you decide to buy this, remember they are honoring my personal discount code for all my readers, so use FRANK10 at checkout for a 10% discount. Let me know how it works for you, and I will do the same. While you’re at it, the best way to use this new energy is to take up Weight Training, build some muscle, drop some fat, and I can show you how to do that effectively in an hour-a-week. To your greater fitness and health, in Christ, Frank

Modern Day Passover

During these strange times with the COVID-19 pandemic impacting the world, everyone sheltering in place, limits on how we interact with our family members has significantly impacted how I experienced Passover this year.

This pandemic is a modern-day Passover. We shelter in place in our homes and hope that death passes over our house, our extended fami-ly and our friends. And it will be like this for months to come.

The Israelites were most likely reflecting about many of the same things many of us were:

1) Who will not make it thought this plague? 2) Did we do everything we were supposed to do? 3) Will what we did save us? 4) Will God have mercy on us? 5) I’m scared and uncertain about the future. 6) What does God want from me right now? 7) How will life be different?

The Holy Bible is guidance for the same problems the world has faces for thousands of years. Given the reality of modern-day events, it is a great opportunity to review key teachings of the bi-ble around pandemics, plagues and death while the teaching are amplified by the emotions that are stirred up by the world events.

Of particular interest to me this year was Matthew 26: 36-45 in the garden of Gethsemane. As Je-sus had just finished his Passover meal and was getting ready to be turned over to his betrayer. Praying that he be spared the suffering, but that he would embrace it if it was Gods will.

With the lack of Mass, communion and reconciliation this year, it feels like I was asleep like the Apostles, and now Jesus is sending me a wake up call, to go deeper, pray more, read the Bible and feel/share more love for those around me.

We should all contemplate about what God is trying to tell us during these unusual times.

Hopefully, everyone is staying safe, growing closer to our Lord and aligning your will with His.

Humbly yours, Clark Pentico

Let us pray: May the Holy Spirt give us what we need to grow closer to him and be congruent with

His will.

Brothers, The Novena for Life was held via teleconference from March 27 through April 4 at 8 PM in partnership with our Council, 40 Days for Life, St Rose of Lima and St Rose of Lima Respect Ministry. Each night, there was an in-tention we prayed for as follows:

Day 1: May the tragic practice of abortion end Day 2: May all unborn children be protected in law and welcomed in love Day 3: May ever expectant mother receive compassionate care and support as she nurtures the live in her womb Day 4: May expectant fathers lovingly support the mothers of their children in welcoming new life Day 5: May each person suffering from the loss of a child through abortion find hope and healing in Christ Day 6: May expectant mothers choosing adoption receive grace and support in embracing this loving option Day 7: May all who support or participate in abortion experience a conversion of heart to seek and receive the Lord’s boundless mercy Day 8: May civic leaders work for the protection of all human life, in every stage and circumstance Day 9: May all who defend life find strength and renewal in the Holy Spirit

If you missed the Novena, I suggest using the above intentions for your own personal Novena for Life. As noted in our Knights of Columbus web-site:

“The protection of life is a sustained prayer intention of the Church, and in particular of the Knights of Columbus.”

Vivat Jesus, Joe Ferrall
