My name is Allan Ison and I have been lucky enough to serve in the role of Deputy Principal at Caddies Creek Public School in Glenwood for the past five years. Prior to that, I spent 12 years as Assistant Principal at Beaumont Hills, Old Guildford and Jannali East Public Schools. As I have said to the children at our assembly this week, it was interesting to read about the Kenthurst Public School learning community when this opportunity to relieve as Principal came up. It is an entirely different (and more exciting!) privilege to get to work as part of this team and experience the fabulous learning opportunities on offer for the children of Kenthurst each day. Already this week, I have been fortunate enough to taste hummus prepared by our Stage 3 students, then worked off the calories just by watching the “Be skilled Be fit program” with Stage 1! I have been delighted by the Stage 1 Aboriginal rock art dot paintings whilst hearing the sounds of a fabulous choir rehearsing as the children settled down to lunch. Our band were then seen busy rehearsing in preparation for their next performance. What an outstanding array of learning experiences on offer for our students! Kenthurst Preschool Visit – During Week 7, Mrs Louise Choon and Mrs Susan Tully attended a morning tea at the Kenthurst Preschool to explain Kindergarten programs and the exciting learning opportunities presented here at Kenthurst Public School “The School of Choice”. This visit was warmly received, with positive feedback from the preschool staff and a number of new enrolments already rolling in as we prepare for our Kindergarten enrolments for 2018. Enrolments forms are now available from the office for those families wishing to enrol for Kindergarten in our vibrant learning community for 2018. Next Tuesday and Friday, our Kindergarten students will take on a leadership role by venturing down to the preschool for a play date, building some important relationships with our future students. We look forward to seeing the photos from this visit in the next edition of the Kenthurst Newsletter!

Sydney West Cross Country Success – Two of our students, David and Jessica, have inspired us by proudly represented our ridges zone at the Sydney West regional Cross Country carnival this week. David placed 23rd and Jessica placed 38th across the Sydney West region for their age division. Well done to both of these fine young athletes as they fly the Kenthurst flag at a growing number of sporting events! Individual Student success – It was a delight this week to attend the K-6 student assembly. This assembly saw many of our students recognised for their persistence, hard work and effort in their learning through the presentation of their bronze and silver awards. Well done to all the boys and girls receiving their awards, as well as to S1G for their fantastic assembly item. What an outstanding celebration of learning success at Kenthurst Public School! Over the past 20 years as a teacher, Assistant Principal and Deputy Principal in different schools all over the Sydney region, it has been my great pleasure to work with a vast array of truly talented teachers. If the first few days are anything to go by, I look forward to the next six weeks of Term 2 and Term 3 supporting the ongoing educational journey of the students of Kenthurst Public School, as well as getting to know our community of parents, grandparents and friends as they are led by this highly engaging group of educators. Enjoying the learning journey… Allan Ison (Relieving Principal)

Stage 3 Fete

This week a bright pink note went home about the upcoming Stage 3 fete which will take place on the last day of this term, Friday 30th June. We are hoping that everyone will be able to purchase a wristband to participate in the activities. The $22 covers the cost of

lunch, a drink, an ice cream cup, lolly bag and participation in all of the wonderful activities the Stage 3 students have organised. There will be face painting, coloured

hairspray, carnival games, mini putt putt, a jumping castle and lots more.

This is a great opportunity for our Stage 3 students to learn about working in a team, organisation of people and equipment, fundraising and time management.

The money raised goes towards the cost of the end of year farewell to Year 6 students and for them to purchase a gift for the school.

Parents are welcome on the day and can bring toddlers along for free. However NO high

school siblings are permitted to come. You may purchase a show bag for toddlers through your child's family order form which was sent home. There will be tea, coffee and yummy cakes and slices for purchase and extra hotdogs and chips for any parent

who would like some lunch.

Stage 3 students will wear mufti on the day but all other students MUST wear their sports uniform.

Hoping you can support us by sending the money for wristbands and show bags in ASAP

and come along to share the day. Edwina Shaw

Stage 1 Rock Art Paintings All students in Stage 1 had a fun time creating their own Indigenous Rock Art Paintings. Have a look at how much time and effort went

into creating these masterpieces!

S1G had a blast performing in front of the whole school at the K-6 Week 8 Assembly!

They sang “Juicy Juicy Green Grass” and “Kangaroo Hop”. Two fantastic songs by Peter Coombes.
