Vision

KDE wants to embrace the future. Free Software is notonly about unpaid volunteer contributors anymore.

How we relate with organizations will have a relevantimpact in our future.

We want to lay that relation in our strength andprinciples, keeping KDE Identity.

Current relation between organizations and Free SoftwareCommunities should be improved.

It is our responsibility to establish the best conditions forthat relation to grow healthy.



Mission

KDE Connect mission is to develop a specific interface fororganizations to improve current win-win relations and createnew ones, increasing the value of becoming part of ourecosystem.

KDE Connect will take in consideration three different groupsof organizations:

KDE Connect

KDE Connect is a structured networking program with globalpotential that helps organizations improve their results andexpand markets.



KDE role in KDE Connect

KDE play the following roles:

KDE Connect organizer, assigning experiencedprofessionals, giving legal structure and technical support,among other resources.

Interactions between Participants and Memberspromoter, through the design and development ofdifferent networking activites.

Catalyst of the identification and definition of newopportunities that will be developed by Participants andMembers on their own.

Networking activities

KDE Connect will organize a variety of networking activities:

On-line activities through different channels.

Face to face activities in events and sprints.

Other activities: suggested by participants or KDEConnect Team

KDE Connect: a structured networkingprogram

KDE Connect is initially structured in three subprograms

KDE Connect Participant: on-line action (6 months)

KDE Connect Member: on-line/face to face action (1year)

Patron Forum: institutional program

How to participate in KDE Connect?

KDE will announce the project within a few weeks withthe application procedure.

You will be able to contact KDE members from differentlocations in several different languages.

After an evaluation process, the applicant will beaccepted as Participant.

After successfully accomplishing KDE ConnectParticipant subprogram, organizations will be able tobecome Members.

Roles

KDE Connect Working Group: core group.

Liaison: in charge of organizing networking activities andpromoting interactions between Participants/Members.

Contact: assigned to every Participant/Member, will linkorganizations with KDE Connect team and KDEcommunity.



KDE Connect team

Coordinated by KDE members who are experienced inbusiness and communication.

From different parts of the world, different languages andcultures.

June 2012: KDE Connect announcement.

June 30th to July 6th (Akademy 2012): KDE Connectnetworking sessions and BoFs.

August 2012: KDE Connect Participant starts.

January 2013: KDE Connect Member starts.

Conclusions

By creating this new interface, KDE intends to establish asymbiosis with organizations around the world.

KDE Connect is a key element in KDE strategic plan.

We understand it will only succeed if it is beneficial forboth the organization involved and KDE.

As relevant side effect, we intend to establish stablerelationships with participants beyond KDE Connect.

KDE Connect represents both a challenge and a greatopportunity. Analysis and feedback from organizationsinvolved will be welcome. Be active.
