Capital
Astana (formerly called Akmola) is the official capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan since December 10, 1997. It is located 1,300 km north of Almaty, and has the population of 613, 600 people (2009).

The Emblem of CustomsService
The emblem of Customs represents an octahedral gold star which personifies a planet and eight corners of four parties of light, the central element is shanyrak, the meaning center, the native house, the world and calmness on the ground. This sign has come to us from an antiquity, and served at nomads for a designation of peace.

Customs DutyCollection
All necessary customs duties and taxes must be paid before performing customs drawing up and submission of cargo customs declaration.
There are kinds of payments on import of goods: customs fee, import customs duty, excise tax and value-added tax.
Goods imposed on excise are some oil products, tobacco and alcoholic products and some transport facilities.

The basic purposes of customs policy are stimulation of development of economy and protection of economic interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan, maintenance of the effective customs control.
In task of duty collection, we provide completeness of collection and timeliness of transfer in the budget of customs payments and taxes.

Main problems on customs duty collection are:- understating of customs value by unfair participants of foreign trade activities;- doubtful classification (manipulation with codes of
goods nomenclature of foreign trade activities;- presence of numerous privileges and preferences,
that complicates carrying out of customs administration.
