1. PROGRAM OUTLINE

The following dual training program has been developed for speciality “Low Voltage Networks”. The curricula was developed following the „Learning field concept”1 (instead of discipline-divided curricula). The „Learning field concept“ is the basis for the structure of the German vocational training courses and offers best possibilities to realize principle of action oriented vocational education. It gives orientation for the didactical and organizing planning of lessons. Typical for the “Learning field concept” is that the content of lessons is related to typical professional actions and working situations. The professional work process is the starting point for the construction of “Learning fields”. Central theme of “Learning field concept” is the development of vocational competence in unity of professional competence, social competence and methodical competence. Because “Learning fields” are related to typical working situations, the learning process of trainees follows the logic of professional action, when skilled worker realizes a professional assignment. This completed action is following a sequence of events:

1. look for information2. plan 3. decide4. realize5. control6. assessment

Trainees get in lessons learning assignments, which require going all steps of a complete action independently. On this way trainees are able to realize the professional reality very complex and it becomes easier to transfer competences, developed at vocational school, into practice. The realization of these learning assignments makes necessary learning actions, which develop the formulated competences.

“Learning fields” are described in curriculum as thematic unities with competence oriented formulation of objectives, contents and time allowed.

The curricula for the School of Power Energy have 13 “Learning fields” for each profession. These are big unities with 40 to 80 hours. These big unities are divided for the educational process at school each into 3-5 Learning situations. There are three connected terms within of the “Learning field concept”:

Professional action fields Learning fields

1Hereinafter the term „learning field“ will be also rewritten synonymous with the terms „learn field“ or „LF“.

Learning situations

The connection between these terms:

For each Learning field were develop 3-5 Learning situations and defined the objectives, the necessary competences which the trainees need to be able to fulfill

demands in realization of a professional assignment, which learning actions are necessary to develop these competences.

The Learning fields are divided as follows:

Learning fields 1- 4: basicLearning fields 5- 9: sector specificLearning fields 10- 13: advanced specialisation

It is assumed to have foundation program in first semester of the first year in order to prepare students for specialization. The basic assumption for the formulation of foundation program is that it will be embedded into the following process of assessment of the trainees.

1. Assessment a. analyzing of school certificates, b. internet based test,c. assessment center

2. Content of assessment are agreed with social and international partners 3. Such applicants can become trainees who fulfill the criteria in minimum 4. The subjects of the foundation in the school of power engineering are:

4

Professional action fieldsare connected assignment complexes with typical professional situations and important situations of the life. Trainees should be able to manage these situations.

Learning fieldsare didactical founded and for the vocational school prepared professional action fields. They summarize complex assignments. Their treatment in the lessons takes places in action- oriented.Learning situations.

Learning situationsare smaller thematic unities as a part of a Learning field. They put the Learning fields in concrete terms and contain realistic professional assignments. This takes place by a team of teachers within a didactic reflection.

a. Mathematics, b. Informatics c. Physicsd. Technical English e. Sector relevant manual skills

5. At the beginning of the foundation individual learning plans must be formulated in agreement from school, social partners, international partners and trainees

6. This individual learning plans has to be evaluated monthly by the teachers in accordance to the trainee.

Goal of the foundation is to enable the trainees to fulfill the entry requirements of the training courses of the school of power engineering. This is demand for all new trainees.

These requirements are agreed between school management with the social and international partners.

Depending of the asked training it is necessary to pass a healthy test (color, geometric imagination, etc.) to fulfill the requirements of physical conditions.

For the training course of “Servicemen wind energy power plant” it is necessary that the trainee has to be physically fit (Assessment) and at least 4 hours per week to be trained during the training in climbing technics, lifting heavy loads, etc. additional to VET.
