Please make sure you do not mix up Kristiansund Airport, Kvernberget (KSU) with Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik (KRS) in southern Norway. You may also travel into Molde and we can arrange transport as best as possible. Molde is approx 1 hours drive in a car but there is a regular bus service traveling into the centre of Kristiansund.

All connections must be made from Oslo or Bergen. Venue: Bratthallen, Skoleringen 1, 6500 Kristiansund N Registration: Deadline for registration and payment is 30th January 2009. Those needing visas will need to have made their application by 10th November 2008 to ensure sufficient time for the processing of necessary documentation. All persons competing or participating in the camp will need to have registered by 30th November 2008. The registration is binding. Payment in full must reach us by 30th January 2009. Transport: Transport can be organized from the hotel to venue and back at Kr.20 per head return per day Transport may be available from Kristiansund, Kvernberget (KSU) airport for a nominal fee. Hotels: Our World cup hotel is Quality grand hotel. More details in regard to booking will be sent at a slightly later date Meals: Meals can be purchased from the venue (Bratthallen) using a ‘voucher’ or ‘coupon’ system. These can be purchased for1,2 or 3 meals daily from the tournament organisers – Kristiansund Shotokan Karateklubb. Of course the alternative is to eat in the town at some of the best Fish restaurants in the world, and many other restaurants (full range of quality!) We suggest that you contact your nearest Norwegian Embassy in order to confirm the information on this list is 100% correct so as to avoid problems. Schengen Countries The Schengen-co operation means that passport control is not required within the agreed Schengen area. Citizens from these countries can therefore travel without a visa within Norway. The same applies for foreign nationals that are resident in one of the member countries. The 24 member countries are as follows.

Requirements for those NOT needing visa

If you do not require a visa to visit Norway you may stay for up to 90 days within the Schengen area.

The following demands are made to those foreign nationals who do not require a visa. You must have:-

• Adequate funding to cover your stay in Norway. As a rule of thumb this is 500 NOK per day you intend to stay in Norway.

• A Passport that is valid for at least 3 months after you return from your trip.

• Return possibilities to your country of origin, or the country you have residency in.

• You MUST have a valid travel insurance which covers the possibility of being sent home in the event a medical reason, acute doctor or hospital treatment. The insurance must cover all Schengen countries and have a coverage of at LEAST 30,000 ( thirty thousand) Euro. THIS DOCUMENTATION MUST BE PUT FORWARD AS PART OF YOUR VISA APPLICATION

Visitors visa (C-visum)

Visa can be given for tourist visits, family visits, official business trips, study or for many other reasons. A visa to Norway and the Schengen area can be given for up to 90 days. Please note you are NOT allowed to have stayed for 90 days in the proceeding 6 months.

Please contact your local Norwegian embassy to ensure that you provide adequate information in your application. Please note it is not the responsibility of KWF Honbu or KWF Norway to ensure you have applied for a visa, or that you have applied in good time. Please plan well in advance and apply for your visa NOW!

Opening/welcome party: A ‘Zenyasai’ party will be held on 27th March 2009, the night before the tournament. Price and venue to be announced. Technical Course: Open to all karate-ka regardless of association/affiliation. This is an open event enabling karate-ka to ‘taste’ and ‘appreciate’ Yahara karate. Instruction by KWF Honbu Instructors : Mikio Yahara, 8th Dan, KWF Chief Instructor Akihito Isaka, 8th Dan, KWF Assistant Chief Instructor And other instructors to be nominated World Cup: Open to all karate-ka under KWF Ippon Shobu rules. Please note these are not World Karate Federation/World Union of Karate Organisation style rules. They are most akin to JKA rules with some modifications. We seek to compete with ‘ippon’ in mind, not ‘waza-ari’.

Time and venues to be notified. Saturday 28th March 2009 Opening ceremony: 09.30 Tournament starts: 10.00 over 6 areas Individual + Team kata elimination competitions Children aged 13 and below kumite elimination competitions Sunday 29th March 2009 Tournament starts: 10.00 over 6 areas Individual + team kumite elimination competitions 15:00 Finals commence 17:30 Presentation ceremonies 18:30 Tournament closes Sayonara party A ‘sayonara’ party will be held, which should afford all the chance to unwind and partake in a mixture of traditional Norwegian and Japanese ‘party activities.’

6. EXPENSES: • Each country must cover their expenses for the travel as well as for their accommodation. • The contestants themselves must ensure that they have adequate insurance. • The Organizer or the Association (KWF HQ/KWF NORWAY) is not responsible if the money has not been transferred into the championship account, nor for any injury that may occur during the tournament itself, nor during any individuals stay in Norway.

D: PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

• Each contestant should bring their own protective equipment: gloves, teeth protection, chest protectors (for girls) are optional but recommended. Groin protections are recommended for boys.

• Gloves/Mitts should be approved by KWF (only white). • Spectacles/Glasses may not be worn for kumite

E. FIRST AID • Officially appointed tournament doctors and staff will be present and administer first aid. The doctors hold the decision-making authority to decide if an injured contestant can Continue or should withdraw from it. • Each contestant must carry their own health insurance and is responsible for his/her own health care and will have no claims on the tournament, officials, organisers or medical staff. • Each country must prepare its national flag for the opening ceremony. F. INFORMATION ABOUT PAYMENT The fees for participation, transportation, accommodation (where appropriate) and opening party must be paid in advance and proof of payment sent to KWF Hombu. The deadline is 30th January 2009 otherwise your registration will not be considered. Please transfer the money to the account provided upon confirmation of received registration. G.VISA (for the countries that require one) In order to obtain a Norwegian visitor’s visa you have to obtain a ‘letter of invitation’ from KWF Norway. You can then apply for your visa from the Norwegian Embassy of your home country; if you have any questions on visas, please e-mail: [email protected] If you need an invitation letter, please contact us not later than 27thth November 2008.
