IP protection encourages innovation, development of knowledge-based industries and creates favourable climate for technology transfer. Intellectual property rights (IPRs) conferred as Legal rights on the creators of Intellectual property play a significant role in the economic and industrial growth of the country. Intellectual Property (IP) systems also help promote social welfare through stimulation of innovation, research and creativity. A balanced IP system is one of the key mechanisms to support country's innovation and development objectives. IPR framework in India is well established from legal, judicial and administrative point of view and it is fully TRIPS compliant. IP laws in India keep pace with the global developments in IPR underlining our commitments on intellectual property protection to all stakeholders, whether domestic or foreign. The Government of India values the importance of intellectual property and has taken many initiatives that are essential to create conducive environment for the protection of Intellectual Property Rights and the IPR Cell is committed in creating awareness about the concept. The programmes conducted by Law Department before 5 th July 2017, and after that Kalinga University IPR Cell was formed, all the activities conducted in the year 2016- 2017 are listed below: 1. REPORT BY IPR CELL 2016-17

Intellectual property (IP) is the product of human imagination, creativity and inventiveness and comprise Inventions, designs, brands and artistic works. IP protection encourages innovation, development of knowledge-based industries and creates favourable climate for technology transfer. was on the Economic growth and competitiveness and how to protect and use the

patents and the IPR systems pertaining to it and the seminar was attended by 90 faculty

members and students from all the Departments.

Kalinga University and was conducted by Mr. Krishnendu Roy Sarkar on 21-07-2016

and 145 participants from various departments of the University attended the seminar

and the focus was on promoting the importance of patents. This seminar was organized

for creating awareness intellectual property protection.

“Plant variety protection & IPR” was organized by the IPR Cell of Kalinga University

and was conducted by Mr. Saptarshi Bhattacharya on 19-01-2017 and 90 participants

from various departments of the University attended the seminar and the focus was on

promoting the importance of patents. This seminar was organized for creating

awareness intellectual property protection.
