CBM PRAYERLINE

CANADA Pray for a wonderful time of worship, inspiration and learning together at the upcoming assembly, June 11-13, of Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec. Dr. Gary Nelson, former CBM Executive Director, and current President and CEO of Tyndale University, will be the plenary speaker, sharing his perspective on what is unique about our Baptist family, what are the exceptional challenges we face and how we can move forward in ministry and mission together.

KENYA Aaron and Erica Kenny, CBM’s Africa Team Leaders, pass along the following news: “It was a joy to have representatives from nearly every church in Garissa participating in a time of training and encouragement at the second course in CBM’s Certificate of Integral Mission in a Majority Islamic Context that seeks to strengthen Christian leaders and local churches in building transformative relationships with their neighbours and broader community. Please join us in praying for the church in Garissa, and throughout the Muslim world. In a time of great persecution and upheaval, we pray that God's Holy Spirit might spring up in each of our lives bringing healing, restoration, and peace.”

GLOBAL The recent World Environment Day (June 5) reminds us to pray for the health of our planet and for responsible management of our natural resources. May we be good stewards of God’s creation and mindful of the impact of our consumerism, including our food choices. Pray for CBM’s Food and Community Development programs that encourage environmental care and protection.

Camp Tulakadik FundraiserThis year the floor in the Dining Hall has had to be redone. Thus far a breakfast was held to help offset partial cost of having the floor redone. There is still a significant amount to be paid off. We are asking you as members of Sussex Baptist to take on as a project the remainder of the cost of the floor. Whatever we raise as a church family will be matched by an anonymous donor to a maximum of three thousand dollars. In essence we could raise 6,000.00 to pay off the floor! The projected cost of the remainder of the floor payment is approximately 6,000.00. Your donations can be given to Alfie Smith, Ken Reicker or Andrew Hopper. Please make your cheque out to Camp Tulakadik. Please do not write on your cheque that this is for the floor project. If you place cash in your envelope please make sure your name and address is on the outside of the envelope so a receipt can be issued for your donation.  All money collected from the church will go directly toward the cost of the floor.

Receipts will be issued by Camp Tulakadik. Please have your donations to us by the end of June.

Thank you for your support,Alfie, Ken and Andrew

Father’s DayWe are only a week away from Father’s Day and on this special day we all honor our Fathers whether they are still with us or have passed away. We do this by sending a card, giving a gift, placing flowers on a grave or any number of other ways.

For the next 2 weeks, June 7 and 14th the Gideons will have Father’s Day cards and In Memory cards available. A display with these cards will be set up in the Foyer. Please feel free to take one of these cards and donate to the Gideons. By doing so, you will be able to place Bibles in your father’s honor or in his memory. What a way to honor our Fathers – in a manner that has eternal value.

Thank you for your continued support of the Gideon Ministry.
